A canter for England.
Tournament clearly shaping now with India, NZ, Eng and Aus at the top. Let's hope Aus locks that in with a win over the Lankans.

The one good thing about all the washouts is that it'll pinch the broadcasters' revenue, who seriously ****** over the format. Seeing the figures thrown around for star is a thing of beauty.

Dreadful first 10 overs with the ball by Aust.

Re: World Cup 2019
Things looked decidely dodgy for Aus with Lanka at 0-115 off 15, but thankfully the real Mitch Starc stood up to blast through for Aus.
From 2-273 off 42 Aus should've made 360+. We must improve our poor last 10 over efforts.

Fair effort from Fink, Seasick, Starc and Maxwell (bat and ball). Our bowling after Starc and Cummins is weak. Happily gcspoc did Oz a favour by getting out - 26 off 48 is not good.

Re: World Cup 2019
All going swimmingly for Oz.
NOW: the day of Grudge Match II. One of the biggest grudge matches in international sport, too.
Other forthcoming grudge matches: Aus vs Eng, & a mini-Grudge match, Aus vs NZ. Maybe also (if you're furriner, esp.) Ind vs Eng.
You don't need pathological levels of loathing for a "grudge match", though it helps. Just, a match you absolutely dread your fiefdom franchise losing.
(Fiefdom franchise, or as it's more often called: "my country/fatherland".)

When Jandy started to excel (or claimed the top spot for England wickets taken, I suppose).
Pakista getting cut to ribbons though. A pity, for the neutrals.

Comfortably too good, the rain came too late to save the Wackies.

Re: World Cup 2019
Somewhat farcical sending them out to chase another 130 or so in 5 overs... what was the point of that resumption?

NRR calculations
Pakistan could have forfeited (unless the ICC has taken that option out in the playing conditions)

Re: World Cup 2019
They went on beyond the scheduled closing time though, for a pointless few overs. People blame DLS but the same would have been true even for an unadjusted target. It would have been common sense for the umpires to just call it a night, even if it wasn’t quite in the same league as that Aus-SL final where they came back on in darkness to avoid having to restart from scratch the following day...
