English County Season 2019
It's cracking the flags outside, so safe in the knowledge that winter will return for the start of the new season, here we go.
The last year of county cricket as know it. Next year we have the ridiculous "100" being foisted upon us.

Re: English County Season 2019
There will still be some cricket amongst it, though probably played in February and November.
I guess they’re jetting off to the Middle East for the traditional curtain-raiser soon? Beats snow stopped play in Durham, I suppose. Anyway, we need some unseasonably good weather for any England top order batting candidates to emerge.

Re: English County Season 2019
By 100 do you mean 100 overs maximum?
Two players with top drawer techniques are Vince and I Ronald Bell. Should they have fine seasons, they must have a chance of selection.
Plenty of chat here about the numbers of Oz players intending to play CC.. Unhappily for us, Pucowski and Sangha may not be eligible.

No, 100 balls maximum... our ultra-gimmicky belated answer to the IPL etc. Bastardised T20, who would have thought we’d ever be saying thathorace wrote:By 100 do you mean 100 overs maximum?
That’s going to take up the best part of the summer, alongside the traditional T20 so the smaller counties don’t miss out, with proper cricket being marginalised even further.

The question is why? He had virtually cemented his test place.

They obviously made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Callum Ferguson is our main overseas player this year. He's a seriously decent performer.horace wrote:By 100 do you mean 100 overs maximum?

He is a good Shield player. The Pears have aced that one.

Well KP has said that every sportsman is a business now and would go anywhere for extra money, less work and more job security. Evidently Olivier will earn 2.9m rand per season in England.

Cameron Bancroft appointed Durham captain... guess they could do with a bit of sanding down and re-painting.

Our Pope was rested from the Duke ball section of the Shield - reason is he struggled to handle it. Still, he's a promising leggie.
Sounds like your Pope's career is a 'nose' in front.

With the increasingly crowded domestic schedule, what is the point in maintaining these university turkey shoots?
