Re: English County Season 2019
I don't think they'd be in the market for him at this stage.
Will be more like Leics, Derbys or Glam.
Or Northants, perhaps. Who historically are always a bit short on local talent & funds, and so have often had to scavenge on spec.

Re: English County Season 2019
Well, Notts are pretty desperate, the batting is incredibly weak... but putting anyone in a team with Joe Clarke, Alex Hales and Ben Duckett would more than likely ruin more than just their cricket.
You have to wonder what would have happened had it not been for that broken finger. Keaton Jennings wouldn’t have played 17 Tests, for a start...

Anyway, potential long form prospects Sibley and Hain getting a chance to impress on live TV... albeit in a T20 for the Brummie Bears.

Moeen with 85* off 46 in the T20. That’s him back in for the next Test, then...

I'd have him at Worcester in a heartbeat but I don't think we can afford him.PeterCS wrote:I don't think they'd be in the market for him at this stage.

Watching county T20 is like going into a strange late ‘00s cricketing timewarp... Puke Shite, Chavi Flops, Fat Sam, Chris Katie-Price et al. All those who never quite made it as England fixtures yet still hang around the county scene years later.

The pity for Moeen is Leach is far more dangerous with the ball.

And you wouldn’t have backed Moeen to block out 17 balls to support Stokes, he’d have gone for a massive swipe and been stumped half way down the pitch.horace wrote:beamer wrote:Moeen goes Napeshit again to take the Pears to finals day.

Reports that Mo was racially abused during the match. As ever, he conducted himself with quiet dignity.

It’s going to take someone to do a “Cantona”, in whatever sport, to get the authorities to act on this. The sooner the better.

The genie is out of the bottle. Racists have been emboldened and given mainstream platforms to spread their hate like never before in this country.
I forget what triggered it. Love Island or something.

Dello/Fromage: Can we do something permanent about the vile racist bile being constantly spewed by you know who here? At least clean up our own act?

I think the best way to handle it are to
1. Use of the ignore button
2. Refuse to engage. The bloke is not interested in discussion.
3. He and Taipan can pm to their heart's content.

I’m steering clear of the politics threads from now on. Certain people aren’t going to change their views, and this is a cricket forum after all. It’s either that or bugger off for good.

I have had similar thoughts, but f#ck him, I refuse to bend the knee to bigotry and gross stupidity.

Re: English County Season 2019
Ignoring him isn’t “bending the knee”, in fact there’s little point calling out people who clearly aren’t going to change their minds, the confrontation is what they want. If it was a politics forum then fair enough perhaps, but it isn’t. Let’s not give him the satisfaction. If he wants to discuss cricket (which he generally talks sense on) then fair enough.Basil wrote:beamer wrote:I’m steering clear of the politics threads from now on. Anyway, back to county cricket. Notts v Worcs in the semi-final on Saturday, battle of the England rejects with Hales v Moeen? Notts have been absolutely shite in the red ball game this year but chance for some redemption here. Perhaps an “El Cloughico” final with Finals Day debutants Direbyshire?
Whoever thought of playing this in late September by the way, it was bloody freezing on occasions still watching cricket at 10pm even when it was in August...

You think Notts are shoite? Just take a look at our batting averages
I see Clarke was brilliant today. Pity he didn't produce the goods when you needed him. He has a relegation escape clause in his contract apparently.
