English Domestic Season 2021
Well, it’s April so it must be starting soon... no curtain-raiser in Abu Direby, obviously, this year.
CC going to a three-group format I believe, along the lines of last year’s stopgap Bob Willis Trophy (which itself lives on as an aside, through some sort of play-off system).
Oh yeah, and there’s the small matter of the SixteenPointFour16.4 Cup. Go Rockets, or something...

Re: English Domestic Season 2021
A youngster called Josh De Caires has made a century for Leeds/Bradford MCCU against Yorkshire. He has a famous father, though for some reason doesn’t use his surname. Trying to avoid the FEC tag, perhaps...

Amazing; Darren Stevens - now 44 - makes another century from number 7 to start his and Kent's season. He seems not to age.

Or maybe the quality of county cricket is just ageing faster than him...lardbucket wrote:Amazing; Darren Stevens - now 44 - makes another century from number 7 to start his and Kent's season. He seems not to age.

Jaysus - looks just like dad.
Also, I see that young Josh's great grandfather Frank played 3 Tests for the West Indies, including Sandham's match.

Re: English Domestic Season 2021
Like life, cricket can be rough.
Simon Kerrigan's perhaps unexpected. return to Old Trafford, in Northants colours:
Lancs 1st Innings: Kerrigan 4-60 off 34 overs (Lancs 305 ao).
Northants 1st Innings: Kerrigan (batting at #10, not noted as a batsman) 45*, of his team's 177 ao.
////
Lancs 2nd Innings: Kerrigan 0-19 off 3 overs (Lancs 296-7 dec)
Northants 2nd Innings: 218 ao. Kerrigan a golden duck.
Poor Kegs. Perhaps a microcosm of his career ...

Century in each innings for Hameed. Are you watching, Messrs. Burns, Sibley and Crawley? (And Silverwood and Taylor for that matter...)

Back to back tons for Haseeb Hameed against Pears. The second coming perhaps?

And Notts winning a 4-day game, even if it was against Direbyshire!
Hameed’s last four innings: 111, 114*, 0 and 94. Always had too much ability to fade into obscurity, though when he came to the batsman’s graveyard of Trent Bridge I didn’t hold out too much hope!

Handscomb and Head do absolutely nothing to press their Ashes claims in their county matches, but Marcus Harris tons up.
Neser has bowled well is his match. Not much else from an Australian POV.

Handscomb is on the Test scrapheap (technically rubbish). Head is not but better start performing reliably if he ever wants to return to the Aus Test side.

Re: English Domestic Season 2021
Wasn’t Handscomb the “runner” for the sandpaper incident? Like Bancroft, it’s probably going to be held against him as one of the junior players, while the likes of Smith were always going to be rehabilitated based on class and experience.

I see that Jimmy dismissed Marnus is their contest.

To be fair, Labiashane (as Dello characteristically dubbed him) was on his first outing on Taffypom soil for a while.
Let's see how he fares against the Tykes' finest today.

They seem to have two Yarpozes and an Aussie Dutchman in their ranks. Lacking in true Welshmen like Geraint Jones

Lordy lord, now he's marooned in a place where he's losing confidence and form like many a local batsman ("English (or Welsh) conditions"):
