I was watching on delay. I suppose we've just found out what a selfish prick Fev is. There's meant to be no I in team but it was all about him. People get suspended for a week by leadership teams yet he demanded the ball. Forget about other forward targets. Suffer Blues. No wonder you got thumped you tankers.

I'll be at the Hawthorn/Carlton game in rnd 22, one scenario has Franklin and Fev both reaching 100 at that match. I remember two pitch invasions some years ago when Lockett got his 1000th goal and 100th for the season in the same match at the SCG.
Fev won't get his 100.
told ya. sucked in, Fev!

How many games did they play back in the season Peter Hudson kicked 150 goals to equal Bob Pratt's record? Seems a remarkable achievement given the kudos everyone has been heaping on Buddy for cracking the ton.

150 goals in 21 games by Pratt.
And I have clear recollections of watching Hudson going for the goal that would've given him the record. It was smothered by his opponent standing on the mark (at least that's the way my 40 something brain remembers it).

Saints can still make fourth spot if they beat the Dons by enough and they're on track at half-time to do that with the Bombres looking a bit sick and sorry for themselves.

Looks like they got there and Adelaide misses out. Absolutely pathetic performance from the Dons though.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
Adelaide will be pissed off at missing the double chance though I doubt they could have rolled the Cats. They now have a home final at least as some sort of compensation though would have had a home final in the second week of the finals albeit one where they were probably coming off a flogging.

The 'rough red' hasn't rotted all your brain ...he kicked it into Barry Lawrence ( father of Steven Lawrence who played for Brisbane and St Kilda )

Cheers MB. I was barely 10 I think but followed the VFL religiously on ABC Sportsview. Hudson's distinctive, almost spastic running and kicking style was ingrained in the brain.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
I was at Docklands for both games this weekend. Incredible atmosphere considering they were very one sided.
Fev is the only target up front for Carlton so you can hardly blame him for expecting the ball to be delivered. Its something the Blues will need to address before next year. I was a bit surprised at how desperate Hawthorn were to stop him in the last few minutes since he was never in the hunt for the Coleman.
Fevola is clearly a better full forward than Franklin at the moment with a more accurate kick and he times his leads better, but Buddy will get better (which is a worry for the rest of the comp). At the moment Franklin has a better supply than Fevola but he wastes a lot of chances.
There are suggestions that the round 22 fixtures should be flexible to avoid this years situation where St Kilda knew what they had to achieve. Given that their opposition (the mighty Bombers) only bothered to turn up to send off a few stalwarts it was not all that tough a task for the Saints but you could cut the air with a knife (good cliche) as they got closer to the target.

Fevola might be a better full forward than Franklin, but Franklin could probably kick 5 goals a game (from 12 attempts) from the left half forward flank. Whatta freak.

Re: AFL 2008 thread
Initial AA squad has been announced, I'm sure some supporters will be angry that their favourite has missed
My early attempt at the team:
Harley (c), Scarlett, Milburn
Enright, Bock, Hodge
Corey, Bartel, Richardson
Cox, Ablett, Cooney
Harvey, Riewoldt, Johnson
Medhurst, Franklin, Fevola
Sandilands, Selwood, Judd, Pavlich
Backline is Cat heavy as I'll freely admit I don't know much about a few of the other players named. Not sure if Judd warrants selection but the selectors and the media love him so he'll make it on reputation, possibly even starting on the ground ahead of Cooney or Corey.
Defenders: Nathan Bock (Adelaide) Corey Enright (Geelong) Sam Fisher (St Kilda) Tom Harley (Geelong) Luke Hodge (Hawthorn) Max Hudghton (St KIlda) Luke McPharlin (Fremantle) Andrew Mackie (Geelong) Darren Milburn (Geelong) Dale Morris (Western Bulldogs) Daniel Pratt (North Melbourne) Matthew Scarlett (Geelong)
Forwards: Jonathan Brown (Brisbane) Daniel Bradshaw (Brisbane) Brendan Fevola (Carlton) Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) Brent Harvey (North Melbourne) Steve Johnson (Geelong) Paul Medhurst (Collingwood) Daniel Motlop (Port Adelaide) Robert Murphy (Western Bulldogs) Ryan O'Keefe (Sydney) Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda)
Midfielders/ruckman: Gary Ablett (Geelong) Jimmy Bartel (Geelong) Simon Black (Brisbane) Adam Cooney (Western Bulldogs) Joel Corey (Geelong) Dean Cox (West Coast) Daniel Cross (Western Bulldogs) Brett Deledio (Richmond) Lenny Hayes (St Kilda) Chris Judd (Carlton) Brett Kirk (Sydney) Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn) Drew Petrie (North Melbourne) Matthew Richardson (Richmond) Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle) Joel Selwood (Geelong).
