Indian and Pakistani forummers . . .
I met an Indian friend at lunch (had a nice curry) and he is distraught that his family back in India are pressuring him to go back and marry someone they have tried to arrnage for him. He has been dating a very nice Japanese girl for a few years now and hopes to stay in japan in the IT job he currently has.
What's the deal with arranged marriages? My friend is worried that he will lose his relationship with his family if he refuses this . . . is that likely?

Very likely especially if its a middle class family.is that likely?
Parents in India are still very strict and orthodox when it comes to the marriage of their children. Some even break all alliances from their children if they marry someone of their own choice.

Really? I'm not surprised as I've had a fair bit of experience with Greeks and Italians . . .
Have you had friends in this position, SG?

What did they do? Cave in?
OK, now that idiot, batman, has pissed off . . . what is the story with bringing foreign wives/husbands back to India? I know his girlfriend and she is very nice, bilingual and works in the same IT comp as him. What is the Indian attitude to East Asians . . .

Welcome to the 18th century,
Welcome to SG's marriage.....
Hmm, back on C4, I recall SG making very depressive posts on 2 months before his marriage counting the D-day as it approached....

Re: Indian and Pakistani forummers . . .
Listen... there's a service called 'private messaging'. What should happen is you both use that - otherwise, you're going to seem like voyeuristic, desperate, sad little qunts who are so needy they clamour for affirmation from a bunch of people they don't know properly and who really, really don't GAF.

I think that if you are threatening people, like your threat to tell eowyn's life story on the forum, it is nice to make those in the open where people can see you for the scumbag that you are . . . you and Nigel prefer nasty little games behind closed doors, but that's not to my tatste . . .
