it's going to be funny when this is merged and makes even less sense.

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
Something sinister indeed!
I reckon Dravid was caught with his pants down on the England tour and the board covered it up but insisted he resign the captaincy.
No not really, but it's a good story.

Maybe everyone complaining about his decisions finally got to him? Or maybe he didn't like the fact that his batting became crap when he took over.

Oh yeah, maybe Pawar misinterpreted what Dravid was trying to convey to him. And that duffer Shah.

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
Why should Dravid seek out Pawar and tell him about his decision first anyway? Pawar is like the big boss? Yeah he is, but still it's weird. He's not God or anything.

Actually I think it's pretty common practice in any profession to inform the boss that you are resigning before you tell anyone else(Except for family).

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
As for his batting, yep it managed to sink to ridiculous heights of late (by his standards).
His overall batting average when leading India was still bit respectable, 44.51 as against his career average of 56.50.
Its since SA tour last year, his batting hit a new low. In 6 tests (excluding 2 tests against hapless Banglas), he scored just 251 runs in 11 innings @ 22.81 and his highest score in the intervening period was just 55 in Oval test where he eventually led India for the last time in his career.
I'd say its a very good decision by Dravid.

He used to be a poor speaker. But since his mouth surgery, one can hardly understand what the hell he is saying.Stoopid Sharad Pawar, can't understand a word he's saying.
Wonder how'll one understand him when he'll become ICC chairman?

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
Some people are not meant to be captains, not meant to lead. He was a fabulous deputy. Sambit Bal was just talking about how much he put into his batting and how he always was surprised he could take on extra load of captaincy.
Respect to the man.

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
he was probably fed up of throwing matches for the BCCI-Bookie match-fixing lobby and that too on a constant basis.
Something that countries like Australia have to do only once in a while (throwing away matches to Zim) was done by Dravid and the Indian team almost every alternate match.

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
If all that you are doing is throwing away matches, then that is something any captain can do.
Why do you need dravid for that ? Even R.Pee. Singh would be enough for that job.

Re: Dravid resigns as India captain
Nice to see people being unbiased. Bangaloreans are crowding outside his house trying to dissuade him, while the Kolkatans have already started campaigning for Ganguly.
