They pick and choose ways to denigrate opposition players of a similar standard as they seem fit. This is due to their rampant and humungous predisposition to wank off any Aussie 'idol' and sneeringly disparage any World idol.
I've read better.....but not many.

Seems pretty obvious when you watch them bat and read about their styles of play....
Do you really think Border scored more quickly than Viv? Surely Gilly, then Viv, then perhaps Lara/someone else are the fastest scoring proper* batsman of all time?
*proper means "not Afridi or some other shit slogger*.

Didn't cricket exist before the 1970s?Surely Gilly, then Viv, then perhaps Lara/someone else are the fastest scoring proper* batsman of all time?

What I don't get is that they filled in all the gaps, didn't they? I remember you asking what Braddles' S/R was and it was c. 55 or something similar.
Re: Greatest left hand bat since Sobers - AB or BCL?
The point dodging is pretty boring. Every time I bring up Border and Viv's respective strike rates, you go off on some irrelevant tangent.
JGK on Ponting vs Kallis:
Hmmmm.
JGK on Ponting vs Kallis:
Ponting wins matches with the bat, Kallis influences them at best.
Hmmmm.

Uuuhhhh, yeah LLL - but didn't you know that Ponting's an Aussie, as is Border where as Kallis and Viv are South African and West Indian respectively. So invert the argument, when it suits. Y'know, to overtly cyber-fellate the grouse and nuggety ones.

Back in C4, there was some article in Wisden, trying to patch together all the game's great's S/Rs - i.e. Trumper, Jessop, Braddles etc. Thought you were well in the convo and article. Maybe it was MB.
Re: Greatest left hand bat since Sobers - AB or BCL?
Yeah, Bradman's strike rate was about 60 if I remember correctly. Richards was around the 62-63 mark. Border didn't make the list......

There's some gems on that Kallis vs Ponting thread that apply directly to this current argument. Instead of Kallis, read Border and instead of Ponting, read Viv.
Skully in response to Tom saying Ponting plays in a dominant team:
JGK again:
Special stuff.
Skully in response to Tom saying Ponting plays in a dominant team:
Oh dear Eric, you seem to have missed the point. Some of us argue that Ponting is better because he scores quicker (at a similar average) and therefore gives his team a greater chance of victory (you know, more runs in front, and more time to bowl the opposition out). After all, isn't the ultimate goal here to win Test matches? Or are you a red ink fan, Mr Airy Emu?
JGK again:
It's pretty simple, Kallis isn't feared by good opposition sides.
You're speculating that Kallis would increase his strike rate by 30% if he played in a better team. Who knows - his red ink hunting is pretty ingrained.
Special stuff.

Border wasn't a red ink hunter though.

Why not? I think you'll find his strike rate was the same (If not worse) as Kallis.

Re: Greatest left hand bat since Sobers - AB or BCL?
Why Zim? Because Border played in a weaker team than Kallis? Leave it out. The analogy is pretty damn close. Fast scoring dominator in a dominant team (Ponting/Viv). Slow scoring accumulators or "red ink hunters" in weak/weaker teams (Kallis/Border).
Both sets of players have similar averages. Both are brilliant players. But on the one hand, Border is better than Viv, and on the other, Ponting is much better than Kallis. It's almost impossible to hold both views using such contrary arguments.

Slow scoring doesn't make you a red ink hunter. Being a selfish f*ck makes you a red ink hunter.

Using smileys to try and back up your point. Is this a new low on FB?

No. Apparently going by nothing other than the fact that Border is Australian and Kallis isn't is a new low. Or should I say it's the normal low for you Aussies on here....

Who's going by that? It seems that you are making up things that you think people have said and then base all your conclusions on that. Interspersed by plenty of and various Aussie jibes.
It seems that chip on your shoulder is finally begining to infiltrate your brain.
