Re: English county season 2008 (IV)
Nottinghamshire's crap batting flattered to deceive throughout the morning session but has now reverted to type with a mini-collapse. Mascarenhas must be bowling grenades or something, despite going wicketless: 17 - 10 - 14 - 0.
Bet he'll get Shafayat before Tea.

That match is on TV here - could've been caught & bowled second ball, and then slapped one straight to midwicket.
Bumble suggested somethig radical - leave him in county cricket for the season and take him on the tour in the winter. Not the most stupid idea - will be difficult to ignore though if England are getting bitchslapped by the saffers....
Rubbish idea. He's already had his career shortened massively by injuries, there's no way you should shorten it further.
You don't leave your best bowler out. If he's fit, he plays.

Bah. White Lightning is a nutter. Got out on the tonk. Just before tea. 127 off 103 balls. Northants 249/3 after 43.1 overs.

And a way of doing that will be by bringing him back too soon. There's no way he can come back and bat 6 or 7 on current form.

Nope. If he's going to get injured, it could just as easily happen in CC.

Of course. But you are increasing the risk playing him in a test without proving his fitness first. Personally i'd leave him out of the 1st test.
Bumble went on to say - he needs the time in the middle to find his batting again. Agree with him - it's totally shot to pieces through lack of time in the middle.

Lets pick someone whose been out for 18 months solidly and who has played 1 FC match? Thats idiotic.
No point in hgaving your best bowler if:
1. He's not firing on all cylinders
2. He hasn't proved he won't break down on the first morning.

Huh? When did I say play him in the first Test? I was saying the "leave him in county cricket for a season" idea was stupid. It's just a waste. As soon as he's match fit, he's in for me.

Looking at the Lancashire tail, I think Flintoff was a little lucky in current form to even bat above 10. He certainly shouldn't be batting above Luke Sutton. An excellent innings by Law - he should have played more international cricket. Looks like he'll retire with a Test Average of infinity though...

Not at all a waste. He won't be fit properly for me until after the second test, which basically means if he plays at all its in the ODer's.
Might as well leave him in County cricket to try and get his batting right perhaps, and then look at selecting him.

Jamie Pipe doing a rescue job again. I love him. He should play for England. He's score very quickly, counterattacks, has massive balls and is tidy behind the stumps. Pipe for England.

Half century for Kerplunk, the (rightly) forgotten man of English cricket. Three wickets too.

He's your best bat this year isn't he?
Typical Essex - we NEVER finish off a team, just don't have the cutting edge...

I suppose he really is the only Englishman in your side that could possibly ever hope for an England cap really!

Calm down, you're still 200 ahead.....
Yeah, he's very close to being God. Averaging 50 before this game. Our batsman make me sick. The tail has had to bail us out nearly every single game.
Destroyed a red-hot Simon Jones when we played Worcs too.

About 550 runs worse off this season.
