Re: The Olympics Thread
The Olympics these days mean very little to me, in fact the only story that's made me sit up and take notice is that of boxer and gold medal hopeful Frankie Gavin who failed to make the weight for his first fight in the lightweight division. Four years to prepare and he fails to make the weight, FOUR YEARS!!??? Ffs, don't they have saunas in Birmingham?

Utterly pathetic isn't it? His "team" should be sacked, appalling management.Geoffrey Trueman wrote:The Olympics these days mean very little to me, in fact the only story that's made me sit up and take notice is that of boxer and gold medal hopeful Frankie Gavin who failed to make the weight for his first fight in the lightweight division. Sure is. I'm sure there's more to it than what was said in the red tops, but whatever way you look at it, it don't look good.

Gold and bronze to the Aussie girls in the 100m butterfly.
Libby Trickett's form bodes well for the freestyle sprints too.
And Leisl Jones qualifies nearly 1.5s faster than the field for tomorrows 100m breastroke final - she now has the fastest 10 times in history.

No wonder why Phelps was so animated in the 4 x 100 free. He needs it for his 8 golds.
Amazing race.

Idiot Frogs. What a choke that was. Now the little Phelps is a cert for the 8 gold.

Four seconds taken off the WR.
The rate of world records being broken in swimming is crazy. Only one world record hasn't been broken this decade and only five others haven't been set since 2005.

This is India's first ever individual gold in Olympics and first in 28 years when India won the hockey gold in boycott marred Moscow Olympics in '80.
