Is that the Colonel(?) in the Shotgun against Diamond or Mark?
He got a mentioned as a big chance by the Ozzie radio commentators the other day ...which is huge as they usually only know one country

No in Australia, taking potshots at the 'deluded'. Indications are he got plenty of practice.

I like. After every event, it can be, "Hullo Colonel, excellent job" , or " Captain, please try to do better next time, sorry I meant well done Brigadier. Actually Private Rathore that was a PISS POOR ATTEMPT YOU UTTER MUPPET".

The Chief is in her element. She's an ex top class swimmer and loves it when the Olympics is on. Excitedly called me to tell me Libby Trickett had got the gold.

And a mark of the class of Michael Phelps. I've never seen him personally more excited than when his team mate got the French on his last stroke to win gold for the US.

Bad luck Aussies - miss out on a bronze by half a point out of 444 points.

What was going on in the 4x100 relay? Was the former World record holding Frenchman related to the bloke who was 3 strokes ahead when he teed off at the 72nd hole in the British Open golf a few years ago?
Or is he Michael Phelps best friend?

Still, Lezak's split of 46.06 is probably a sub 47s swim normally.

Re: The Olympics Thread
South Africa is struggling, it doesn't seem to have the sporting culture of its other southern hemisphere commonwealth counterparts. I'm surprised it's not that good at swimming considering it is surrounded by water with a good climate.
Britain is doing ok though so it should with is high level of funding.
We're a bit off the pace though doing well in the pool which you'd expect because it's a traditional stronghold of ours. We have to stockpile any medals we get this week because we're bunnies on the athletics track.
Pakistan does poorly considering its population of the other commonwealth cricket nations.
Expect the Caribbean nations to excel on the track.

Eh - they are excellent at swimming. It's still bloody hard to win a gold medal.

How many cliches can you fit in one post, red? Have you ever had a (sensible) original thought?

I just watched the heats of the 400mIM, the Brit lass has no chance.
Glad that was wrong.
I watched the Eventing Dressage. Wasn't that high a level of quality IMO. Still, Team GB are in bronze position going into the SJ with a decent gap between them and 4th. Just need Aus and Germany to have a bit of a demolition derby and could see some medal action.
