How's this one?
Oi loikes et.
I'd give you a 1 for artistic quality, 15 for sentiment. Overall, that's an average of 8. Decent.

What was the team like? Who were the overage players?
David Carney FFS, Archie Thompson FFS. Can't recall the 3rd.

Wow, that is FFS.
What's the point in overage players if you don't utilise them by picking the stars? I suppose the European leagues wouldn't release their players though......

FFS, now they're showing dressage on Ch 7.
And it's not as if the Aussies are any good either.

Re: The Olympics Thread
Who's the greatest Olympian then?
Taking everything into consideration, I think I'd have to say Jessie Owens. To win 4 golds in a stadium where the entire crowd thought you were an inferior race is an immense achievement.

Difficult to say... what's better winning 8 medals at one games or 5 over 5 consecutive games?

Why are the Aussies so crap at football?
For all their natural resources and the amount of money they spend on the game they should definitely be one of the strongest 7.4 teams in the world. When you consider the size of the country, the climate, the number of football pitches, the fact they have embraced immigrants from strong footballing countries like Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Poland and New Zealand. The fact they hire expensive foreign coaches like Venables and Hiddink.
Do they lack basic cognative skill? Do they not have the bottle for it or the education. For a country with the wealth and facilities like Australia they should be achieving a lot more. South Africa spends a lot less money on football and has far less GDP per capita of the population yet they have qualified for 3 world cups in the last twenty years. Why is Australia not capable of producing players of the talent of Benny McCarthy, Lucas Radebe or Quinton Fortune?

If I was Australian, right now I'd be saying "What was the score the last time England played Australia at football?".Gary 111 wrote:Red wrote:I don't care I hate soccer.

Re: The Olympics Thread
1 win against England in 6 games, that is a very ordinary record to say that England is only one nineteenth of the land mass of Australia. Despite the average Australian having 94 times the access to an Olympic sized swimming pool than the English, 14 times the access to the coast and 3 time the access to running facilities their players are so unfit that they have only beaten England once, and not won the World Cup yet, even once. You have to ask why they are so bad at sport. Their biggest defeat ever is 8-0 at home to South Africa. Lol
