China is cleaning up as far as gold medals are concerned. They currently have more than double the amount of gold medals that the US has!

Got to be favourite for the Gold now.
She looked impressive too. However, the Italian lass was hot so I hope she wins if the Aussie girl doesn't.
By the way, fearless JGK prediction time:
This will be the first Olympics since 1976 that no Australian male will get a swimming gold medal. Even when we were megashite in the 80s we still had guys winning gold.
Well there is still Sullivan in the 50 and Hackett. But you are right, it's look unlikely.
Sullivan really should have won that 100m. It was a bit of choke.

Re: The Olympics Thread
All a bit meh really. The few things I'm interested in at this Olympics:
The 100m to see who wins between Bolt, Powell and Gay.
Michael Phelps, the phenomenon. Will he get the eight Golds?
Ibrahim Ba, sorry, Phillips Idowu in the triple jump.
Radcliffe, just to see if she can overcome her injury and also because it's her last chance after the Athens debacle.
Olympics tennis and footy doesn't do it for me. Not sure why.

Radcliffe has no chance, she's hardly trained.
She's competing because she knows she has no chance of making 2012

Would probably be a great moment if she pulled it off though. A bit like Derby winning the Premiership.

Haven't followed athletics for the last couple of years. Is that it? Is that all we've got in track and field - Phillips Idowu? F*ck me.

Re: The Olympics Thread
Re: China and drugs mentioned a few pages ago,
Its worth pointing out that China (along with GB & Norway) are the only countries with lifetime Olympic bans in place for drugs cheats.
With the vast number of Chinese people and the effort the Government have made into funding the Olympic sports and identifying potential future athletes from an early age its no surprise to me they've won so many medals so far.
I was surprised how crap their basketball team looked though, just seemed to run around like headless chickens while the USA picked them off. But the whole country is absolutely basketball crazy and in a few years the NBA will be full of Chinese players.

The person who won the Women's 200m fly was a man. I don't care what anyone says.

The Chinese gold medal winning women's weight-lifter also looked amazingly masculine; I wasn't sure I'd heard the announcer right.
