As they say - the game was the winner.

I was planning to watch this game. Even though it is/was a no contest.
Unfortunately I fell asleep in 2 different bus stops on the way home.

tac wrote:Even better, come and play grade cricket in Oz . . . Oz should ask each 1st grade club in Syd, Melb, Perth and Bris to take a young Banger each year. Whether they play 1sts or not, it would be great for them.
Haynes Botham Collingwood Fraser and so on did just that and came out better players.
Playing under Aussie conditions seems to improve morale of overseas players and of course the beer is better.

For every Pom cricketer who has come to Oz and gone on to bigger and better things ...there are an equal number who have come and left and remained in obscurity ...We might put a "harder edge" on a few guys but they were going to be good players anyway ...

Didn't Ramps average about 28 in Sydney club cricket?

Bit of a lottery, travelling to Aus to play grade cricket, i'd imagine. Some players would find it benefitted their game enormously (Like Paul Collingwood in Melbourne 6 or 7 years back) whilst others probably get no real benefit at all. Liam Plunkett played Aus grade cricket in 2004, and Tim Murtagh was a star in Sydney grade cricket, taking lots of wickets with the new ball, and making good runs at 7 and 8. But he's complete gash.....

it should also be pointed out that the standard of first grade cricket outside of Syndey and Melbourne is pretty poor. Adelaide's grade cricket produces almost no players of quality, whilst Shane Watson smashed a triple hundred off about 150 balls in Brisbane grade cricket.

Maybe so.
Siddens said the Bangers were afraid of Johnson's pace on the bouncy wicket.
I think tac's suggestion has real merit in that confidence comes with overcoming your fears and as Bangladesh are a poor country if the powers that be come to the party all the better.

Does that make Brisbane Grade Cricket comparable to the IPL?
There is some good tough cricket played in the WACA comp

Against a weak side.
Hayden came through Fortitude Valley and Symonds the Gold Coast Seagulls.
It's more about the climate and the pitches as well as coaching and training etc.
