She's better than Greg Chappell ...and almost as good as Geoff Lawson

Purists commentating on techniques used in the least pure form of the game sh!t me to tears.

Talking of Lawson, he's the only apart from Ashocker, who seemed to think that Boucher was plumb the other day.

Duminy did hit some beautiful, genuine cricket shots, mind. Wouldn't have looked out of place in any form of the game.
I guess Warner should at least be given a chance to play 4 day cricket based on what he's done in the shorter versions. No doubt he wont be as aggressive in the longer version, and some technical faults will probably be revealed, but they should give him a go.

I had to laugh at the nob going on about how this innings would mean we would see a lot more of the Suburban Boy in International cricket ....obviously forgot about his own start ...and how crap he was after that ...

Slater was probably Australia's best batsman from 1993-1996. He only really completely lost the plot from the 2001 India tour onwards.

Talking about JAMODI innings
Slater's first game he smashed 73 off 69 balls while the rest of the team crumbled to be all out for 189 ....he batted as well* as Warner did tonight ....the rest of his JAMODI career was very mediocre (he averaged 24 overall) and he never played that well again
Phil Jaques hit 94 in his first JAMODI ...and is averaging 20 after 6 games
My prediction is that Warner will follow a similar path

Aye, it made Ian Harvey look like a world class cricketer.

Immense psychological boost for Oz for the return series.

Its not uncommon for Hilfy to bowl around the 145kph mark but he usually holds it back a bit to extract more swing.

That was kind of my point. With all the slogging and "unpureness" JP played proper cricket and had the second best innings of the night by some distance.
Re Warner in First Class cricket - it will almost certainly happen next NSW shield game so long as Warner isn't required for JAMODIs. He could be another Sehwag. Only faces 70 balls and innings but averages 50.

Mmm. At the end of the day it is still basically a contest between a batsman, a bowler and a set of fielders.

Not really - given that bowling line and lengths and field settings are basically formulaic, T20 is really a contest between batsmen. What was interesting yesterday is that, other than Warner, the batsmen trying to smack the crap out of the ball were outplayed by a little guy playing proper cricket.

last night when I watched the game, i had the nein sound switched off as per usual but the ABC commentariat became hysterical...I turned them off too after Maxwell twice suggested that 'suburbs' was on heat...I thought that T20 was meant as a family fun time

Just watched a replay of the ABdV dismissal and I reckon for quids that he deliberately knocked the stumps with the bat . . . he couldn't get out quick enough . . .
