David Warner - supposedly the gun T20 opener, hasn't even played First Class cricket yet.
Tells you how serious this form of the game is. Its the WWE of cricket.

Are you trying to suggest the result is decided before the match starts?

...instead of those two-day matches, which are really the most meaningless invention ever in cricket. Would afford them their right place in cricket, too...DJ_Smerk wrote:20/20's are now Tour Fillers.
Maybe 20/20's should on be used as Warm-up games or Tour Matches, rather than actually having them for International Tournaments...

Seems our selectors are not taking it seriously, either:
Proteas' starting line-up:
Johan Botha (Warriors,
captain), Mark Boucher (Warriors), AB de Villiers (Titans), JP Duminy
(Cape Cobras), Herschelle Gibbs (Cape Cobras), Jacques Kallis
(Warriors), Albie Morkel (Titans), Makhaya Ntini (Warriors), Dale Steyn
(Titans), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (Warriors), Vaughn van Jaarsveld (Highveld
Lions).

Imran was a great player and an excellent practitioner of his craft, but he didn't revive a dead art and take it to centre stage for over a decade.

I'm actually looking forward to the game. Whether you like 20/20 or not, it' still cricket, and watching it on Prime time telly tonight before the start of the working week sounds attractive.
You can do a lot worse. Like watch Two and a Half Men.

Tend to agree Ponts. It's cricket, and it'll do when the real stuff isn't on.
I think Zimmy has summed it up numerous times though. With many of these games, the result is known early in the 2nd innings. Certainly few games of this format can grip the imagination as the Sydney Test did.

Hauritz and Harris have been omitted from the squad for tonight's match. Warner to debut. Surely it would be easier for Steyn to bowl four overs tonight than ten overs in the ODIs. If you lose the toss in a day-nighter you can end up bowling in the heat. Four overs on a relatively cool night here shouldn't be too taxing.

Punter won the toss and we will bat first.
Tsotsobe is meant to be opening the bowling so he could be in for a baptism of fire.
Van Jaars is said to have lost a lot of weight since he walked out in acrimonious fashion from a Kolpak agreement.
The nine commentary team is usually on speed or something when doing the T20 matches so will be interesting to see how hyped up they are. Brayshaw joins the team again.
