Re: OT: What book are you reading at the moment?
Nothing. I can't afford any of the books I want. I tend to go through dry spells with reading. For half the year I'll read three books a week - and I mean 400 pages worth. That's how serious a reader I can be. Then at other times I won't read a single book. I don't understand it. I really want to read 'Last Argument of Kings' to finish that trilogy off, but it's £12 at Waterstone's and I can't be bothered with Amazon at the mo' (the post always comes while I'm out which means I've got to go and fetch the fecker).

I know this Pakistani girl who some times reads a 500 pages long book in ONE sitting.
....another fact about her is that she doesn't like me.

It takes them forever to get new books in so I tend not to bother. I am nevertheless a regular visitor to my local (incredibly old, crap, dilapidated and disturbingly homosexual-oriented) library.

Augustus,
Do you have an ordering service? That can help. Mine has a searchable online database of all the books in the borough that I can order from whilst sitting at home, just like Amazon.

"Consider the Lobster" by David Foster Wallace. Wallace killed himself last year and pretty much every obituary said he was a god amongst writers. A sort of writers writer.

No. But I still find interesting shit in the footnotes.
Stalin questioning the legality of the International Military Tribunal is still my favourite.
