The fact is, Fred only has 2 five wicket hauls in his entire career. Sooner or later, you have to start saying that it's partly his fault rather than bad luck etc. I think he has a tendency to bowl half a yard too short, which means he often beats the bat rather than finding the edge.

The best bowler in the World has 2 five wicket hauls in 73 tests?
No matter how many excuses people come up with, that is not good enough for the so called best bowler.

He's just bigging up the Ashes contest to come
Warne has just been the teatime interview on Sky and said similar things and bigged up KP too. It'll be all about the Ashes from now on.

Gotta love TGM. He's trying to pump up one-leg-Fred's tyres for Ashes selection. Doing his bit to try for Aus to retain them. Legend!

Re: Warne: "Flintoff is best bowler in the world"
Fred hasn't been quite the same cricketer since the 2005 ashes. Injury hasn't helped. His batting is generaly mediocre these days, and his bowling is always tidy, but he doesn't pick up enough wickets.
It's been mentioned before, but what are his stats since Ashes 2005?

Did you see the list of matches he's played and missed, through injury? Quite an eye opener when you see it in figures. You can understand what a nightmare it must be for the selectors.

Warney hasn't been quite the same commentator on everything under the sun since the 2006/7 Ashes.

Pretty average numbers in all honesty.

Re: Warne: "Flintoff is best bowler in the world"
I don't know if you can call a bloke who isn't fit enough to cope with the workload required of a bowler in a four-man attack the best anything.
Certainly not the best all-rounder, since his batting is totally spent.

not like he is competing with the 2 Ws or Ambrose or Mcgrath.Dello wrote:I don't know if you can call a bloke who isn't fit enough to cope with the workload required of a bowler in a four-man attack the best anything.

Re: Warne: "Flintoff is best bowler in the world"
I don't know what Warne wrote in the newspaper but in the Sky interview shown today he didn't say Flintoff was the best bowler in the world. He said he thought that Flintoff was key to England winning the Ashes. But he did say he thought Ponting and KP were the two best batsmen in world cricket right now.
I thought it was a very good interview by the way. What he said about Australia's current side and spin bowling and Monty was all very interesting to listen to.

Re: Warne: "Flintoff is best bowler in the world"
"Andy Flintoff is the key to England winning the Ashes," Warne, a new commentator for Sky Sports, said. "Not so much his batting but his bowling. He is the best bowler in the world right now. He drags his team along, with his personality, he is inspirational."

He did alright in India, and he's been better than a kick in the arse in theWindies, but he's not more effective that Steyn or even Johnson.

Aye, I expect him to come out soon and pump up the PHS and that crap spinner with the tea-towel.Zat wrote:Gotta love TGM. He's trying to pump up one-leg-Fred's tyres for Ashes selection. Doing his bit to try for Aus to retain them. Legend!

Steady on. We know TGM isn't the sharpest tool in the shed when not playing the game, but nobody in their right mind would go that far.Invader Zim wrote:Aye, I expect him to come out soon and pump up the PHS and that crap spinner with the tea-towel.Zat wrote:Gotta love TGM.
