Please play Amjad! That is a guaranteed 10 runs in extras and at least 2 free hits. WTF were they thinking selecting him for a ODI?
My Windies side:
Gayle
Richards
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Pollard
Bravo
Ramdin
Sammy
Miller
Rampaul/Baker
Edwards
Batting goes down to number 10, plus 2 aggressive openers who will exploit the powerplays if they are in.
Gayle needs only 1 more century to become the leading West Indian century maker in ODI history. If he manages it he will have scored 20 centuries, 1 more than BCL.

Davies to float in the order depending on circumstances. Push him down the order if we don't lose an early wicket. England have shown a ridiculous unwillingness to show any flexibility in their one day lineup.

Like the idea of floating Davies ... I note we have the same team 'cept you go for Broad instead of 'armless.
Only reason I'd drop Broad is because I think he's ****** - both bodily and in the head. He's going to be watched very closely here on in by the Umps ... after the way he ragged off in the last ODI. Pathetic, childish, petty and it wouldn't surprise if Straussey skipped over him for Barbados.

Broad's still our most reliable one-day bowler, if you take out Freddie who misses as many as he plays... that fact perhaps says a lot about the failings of the others, but I don't think one poor game is grounds for dropping him.

Floating Davies? Why not floating Bops, or Colly or any other of our frontline batsmen?
I think Broad's knackered and needs a rest. He also needs a talking to about attitude ( preferably not from his old man)

I don't mind the general Broad attitude. It just needs to be adjusted a bit. It's certainly better than the sulky, introvert, too scared to say boo fast bowlers that England have tended to produce in the last 5 years. To me, Simon Jones's attitude was perfect.

Agree.
But SJ seldom if ever bowled wides, and even when he did, he didn't throw toys out of his pram nor did he persist in whinging and whining to the umpire until even his captain finally told him to STFU.
There's the difference.
Broad's "aggressiveness" works against him more often than not when petulance takes over - that one over in Providence proved it.

5 consider 'switching' to IPL
http://content.cricinfo.com/westindies/content/current/story/396890.html
WTF is up with you guys? You're like the French & their strikes. If there's not a bust up between players & board you're not happy.
Oh, and ban India.

Fair enough but it also seems just as logical to scrap this ill-considered series and just focus on the Ashes. Why does England need to play seven tests every home summer?

It just seems one constant on-going argie-bargie out there, where it seems that the WI Board give the impression they are god like and unwilling to listen. The ICC still await an answer from the WICB as to where and how the $11 million given to them for the WC 2 years ago was spent!
Can't blame the players .... although having said that, if they do go to IPL there may not be a route back into the WI team once their central contracts expire.
And with Stanford fashion parading prison clothes, the money tree won't be there anymore.

Or we could scrap the Ashes and move the WI series later in the year. All for the IPL.
It's to fulfill broadcasting obligations.

WICB need to cull a few of the money grabbers. They won't of course....

They wouldn't be getting rewarded for their investment from a devalued contest though. Surely a very depleted West Indian team playing would be reflected in poor ratings and lack of bodies in the bleachers.

I take it you wrote this before learning that the players haven't even been paid for the tour of NZ? And that they weren't consulted about the tour to England, the WICB just licked their lips and said 'whoopee more money for us'.
The players are not at fault here at all, and the only thing that needs culling is the WICB itself.

Btw this would probably be the IPL affected squad to tour England.....
Denesh Ramdin (wk, c)
Dale Richards
Adrian Barath
Ramnaresh Sarwan
Lendl Simmons
Darren Bravo
Narsingh Deonarine
Brendan Nash
Darren Sammy
Sulieman Benn
Gavin Wallace (hopefully anyway)
Lionel Baker
Gavin Tonge
Ravi Rampaul
Andrew Richardson
Some utterly carp players, some very good young prospects that could be competitive in the Caribbean but in English conditions, early on in the summer it could be painful to watch.

Yep, I was amazed they haven't been paid for previous series yet still played in the current one tbh!

It's worse than that, a number of players who got injured on the last few tours have not been paid their medical fees, and had to foot the bill for some of their own treatment even though the injuries occurred whilst playing for the West Indies.
The players have been very patient but nothing has been sorted out and they had to do something to get things moving.
