He bowls quick, he's in wicket taking form, and he's high on confidence. Could be an inspired 'Simon Jones v India 2002' type selection, with an eye to his long term potential.
Farking hell Trev, thats your best knee-jerk yet!!!!! Chambers is mostly 82mph, and raw as hell.

Re: Windies in England, warm up matches
118/8 now, Shiv is on 44 not out in his first innings on tour.
The ball has nipped about a bit according to the radio comms and Chambers has bowled exceptionally well for his 4 wickets.
Even though these are our 2nd stringers it is an extremely worrying performance. Who the hell is going to open with Gayle because Smith and Richards are both stinking up the place. Deonarine is hardly putting pressure on Simmons for the number 4 spot either with scores of 15 and 0 so far.
Sarwan come back please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ironically both of West Indian origins too. I think that's best FC bowling for both of them.

Chambers sounds like a rough diamond from the play I have listened too.
Westfield was less impressive according to the comms. He was economical because his radar was off and he was hiding the ball from Shiv. He was very well captained by Foster who chose the correct time to bowl him.

I've heard Chambers is around 87-88 mph at full tilt. Westfield is the slower, steadier one, no?

Essex 86/2 Baker and Pascal bowled good opening spells but now it appears they have given up and the commies are criticizing the body language.

Chambers isn't so much "of West Indian origin" as he is blatantly West Indian.
Westfield is Blighty born and raised. Gawd bless 'im.
Re: Windies in England, warm up matches
Must admit I am not a fan of Sammy's captaincy so far. He overbowls the medium paced dobbers like himself and Bernard and underbowls the quicks.
He hasn't given Deonarine any overs yet even though he caused en Essex collapse in the 1st innings.

That is a beauty. Surprised he didn't go the whole hog and declare him the finest young prospect in world cricket.
But I think he can play, Chambers. He was definitely known to be super quick before he cabbaged his back. Just 21, you've got to figure that the longer he stays fit, there's a bit more pace to come. He can certainly push 85+ mph now - if he put on a yard, he'd be pretty tasty.
Re: Windies in England, warm up matches
He's one to look out for for sure, needs to think more about his bowling.

Love our tactics. Cook has been in all innings without any problems.
Only in the last over did someone try going around the wicket to him and immediately beat him three times.
Surely they have watched him bat before even if these are our 2nd string pacers?

175-3 Cook 73* Foster 48*
Will probably set West Indies reserves about 330 in 80 overs

Good time in the middle for Cook. Thought he might be cutting it tight for the first Test, but he seems to have come back from injury and straight into some form just at the right time.

I'd be more worried about Collingwood or Shah.
Personally I don't think there is anyway both of them can be picked

Re: Windies in England, warm up matches
Yeah BBC radio essex as JKlever says....
We have gained absolutely nothing from this match so far, it has been really poor stuff from us.
Richardson bowled excellently at Leicester and in the 1st innings here but has been all over the shop in this innings. Baker is proving steady but unspectacular while Pascal was awful in the 1st innings and fairly impressive in the 2nd. Sammy and Bernard are just steady medium pacers who have unsurprisingly had almost no impact on the match.
The batsman all stank up the place and we are none the wiser as to who will open with Gayle. Smith and Richards have both been as bad as each other. Smith is an amazing slip fielder so maybe he will get the nod but whatever happens we are going to have a shitehound opening the batting with the skipper.
Based on the tour matches so far the lineup at Lords will IMHO be:
Gayle
Smith/Richards
Sarwan
Simmons
Shiv
Nash
Ramdin
Taylor
Benn
Edwards
Baker

Quite. I think Shah's shot himself in the foot. Collingwood will be going into the first Test (which I'm sure he'll get selected for) with no cricket at all. No preparation. And that was his decision - endorsed by the ECB.
Seems pretty arrogant and complacent to enter into a Test series with such an unprofessional level of preparation. Especially when you consider that they lost the return series amid accusations that they didn't take the challenge seriously enough.

The ECB basically had no choice in them appearing in the IPL though (even if strictly speaking they did and it was their call) . What they can do is leave both out of the test side since they've had no cricket. Tell them that their time in the IPL hasn't prejudiced their future selection on merit but they simply don't have enough practice...
