Actually off spinners have traditionally been Australia's achillees heel, but don't let the facts etc..........
Whatever that is but I don't think we've ever paid too much respect to offies. I think England have banked on Monty (who hasn't improved at all since his early tests) and Swann bowling us out based on the idea that we're weak against spin but I'm convinced it's mainly in the shorter forms that we've manifest any shortcomings. Harris got a few scalps in the last series but that wasn't the reason we lost that last test. When have we consistently succumbed to offies on batting friendly surfaces? You have to take dustbowls out of the equation because even someone as innocuous as Clarke can look a worldbeater on them.

Sounds like a taips exclamation at your normal drivel. FMD.Red wrote:skully wrote:Well, that was a very acceptable outcome after the mortification of seeing England's tail-enders slaps around with ease.
Well played Fleas and Drunk, 1-249 chasing 435 is way better than I expected.
Oh, and horrie, get that up ya. S.Katich 104 no.
So are we still mortally screwed?

Red wrote:Offies have traditionally not worried us too match anywhere. In fact Murali aside, it's really only leggies who should cause major concerns to world class batsmen on anything but a dustbowl. Maybe the poms placed too much store on Swann's performances against the moody Windies. It seems they also were relying on Anderson for the same reason. But bowling to the Caribbean mob in overcast conditions on bowler-friendly pitches in May is a bit different to confronting an Australian team determined to retain the Ashes on an insipid pitch.

Like who? It has really only been Harby in 2001 that has caused us massive problems. Even chuck has a relativley ordinary record against Aus

Gotta go. I predict that tomorrow Australia will lose 6 wickets in the space of 50 runs, with Clarke being chased around the ground by rabid dogs.
I'm one for one in my predictions so far, as G Wood can testify.

I think Trev likes to fantasize about a threesome with Embers and Miller.

I'm just genuinely inquiring as to how sanguine you are re. the state of play given that you and ZI seem to think we're perennially screwed. I think it was a pretty good recovery. And Punter's played himself back into form after being quite indifferent with the bat over the past few months.

FFS Red. A pessimistic stance is my normal way. If we do good, life is great. If we don't, then I'm ready.
Fark off with your perennial "nyer, nyering" of someone's opinionated predictions from some other time and place (which are usually woofing insurance). It's as lame and tedious as your bullsh!t pedantry.
And if you care to read my later posts regarding last night's final sessions, you'll see I said exactly what you did re: the current position.

In other words... Red, stop being such a know-it-all smug bitch and let us have some fun.
Or kill yourself, the world could do with one fewer Collingwood supporter.
