Demelza, Chandan, Filo, Ang, Yorkie Jill and Rachel used to post here more often. Just yesterday, Chandan commented on the lack of decent debate. It can't be nice for them, this current climate.

By no means. A disadvantaged sector of society (women) can be sent to be victimised by ad infinitum use of "qunts" to mean persons of no value. Other disadvantaged members of society (gay men) could be said to be victimised by use of "pricks" in a derogatory sense if the advantaged members of society (straight men) do not have penises.

Good attempt to obfuscate, though.

Demelza has just posted, the language would not offend her. Likewise Ange. Filo was chased by tac eons ago, this has nothing to do with it. I chat to Jill most days and know her reasons for not posting more. Actually she was very scaled down in C4 days. Chandan was commenting on the lack of cricket threads which has nothing to do with this debate. Can't answer for Rachel but as Tom still posts I don't see a real problem.

You can use what is called as Robots.txt file on your website to instruct the search engines to not index your website or specific pages within your website, so that they won't appear in the search results.

I don't see it as misogynist. And clearly a number of women here don't either as a number of them have used it as well.

Now are you goinjg to explain the continued use of ****** and canute on your beloved C4 and explain why it didn;t chase them there?

BTW if you care to trawl back a few months you will see I started a thread asking where the women have gone.

I don't see how a bunch of asterisks and a Dark Age King could have driven any women off C4.

It was more stringently modded that FB in order to control the abuse, and so perhaps more women-friendly.

I will say I don't feel particularly inclined to post at the moment, I do sometimes feel like I've walked into a 'gentleman's drinking club' on a wet Monday afternoon, I doubt the topics of conversation there would be all that stimulating for me, with an undercurrent of unsavoury unwelcomeness going on too.

I doubt we'd have the Flintoff is better than Jesus debate on here now, no one seems willing to listen to anyone else just shout down those they don't agrre with. There's also a great deal of disrespect and unwillingness to understand other cultures I don't like too.

Yeah. That was C4's Best Debate Ever. It may interest you to learn that I have some good old chats about cricket, religion, quantum mechanics and the nature of reality with Sidney Swinger over on an American forum. The standard of debate is very high there. It really pushes me to think about what I believe and how I came to believe it.

There's also a great deal of disrespect and unwillingness to understand other cultures I don't like too.

Mmmm. I'm unhappy with the use of the word "Subi" for everything pertaining to four different nations and cultures. Not that FB is the only board to exhibit cultural intolerance. I did pop over to Pakpassion for a while to learn about Islam and the British Asian experience, but there are a lot of very angry people there, so I withdrew from any thread which was not about cricket.

Rob, feeling of unsavoury unwelcomeness extends to more than women, so it's more than misogyny. There's exclusivity as apposed to inclusivity for those not 'in the club'.

For what its worth I agree with you totally,though isn't the exclusive club side of it because we've all come from the same forum?

I dislike the widespread use of 'subi' too, especially after the hissy fit on C4 over the use of the word 'convict'. I also don't get why forummers get all precious when they could simply ignore threads. If its being spread all over the forum - fair enough. But its confined to one thread.

The trouble at the moment is that we've lost a few forummers and some are only part-timers now. Lardy,Bob,Chas.... even Dan is limited to an hour a day.

JKL, it's true we all came from the same place to start with but that shouldn't stop people being courteous to others.

There's a distinct lack of charm for some reason at the moment. Then the likes of doremi gets popped at for stating what is an observation you have to wonder what's going on.
