I've always though Bresnan is sh!t in ODIs. In tests, he can be effective if the pitch suits him.
Me and ye wuz talkin bout it mid-WC. Ye said that he's kind to animals and knows his way around a poetry recital.

Agree with Nasser. We may well win this in swinging conditions like the Oval but what are we going to learn? 90% of ODI cricket is played on flat tracks.

We learn to do everything we to bring multi-teamed tournaments to this country?
All bar Gaztop were saying the same thing, t'other day. Shame really, the only thing that could've precipitated any modicum of change is if we got thrashed 4-1. Any single result margin of victory for SL will bring us a giant moral victory.

So are Sri Lanka. Very tentative when it's moving about.

This glass half empty thingy is why you lost your empire. Look at the scoreboard and rejoice.

We're just recognising the dry skies and dry ground that is quite abundant in other cricketing countries.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka, 4th ODI, Trent Bridge, 6 July, 2011
Lowest ODI score at The Bridge - 83 by the Saffies in August 2008. Lowest by the Lankies - 138 v. the Paksters in inaugural WC in 1975. Lowest v. England - 249 in 2002.

Mikey Holding whingeing that the pitch is doing too much for an ODI. I can't see anything wrong with it, tbh. There's a little bit of movement around, but the Sri Lankans are pretty feeble unless it's sunny and the pitch is a belter.

My first thought when I saw the score was, like others, that playing on pitches like this creates a false economy for England. On the one hand it makes our players look good, but that just leads to our problems being doubled down the line when we get on the kinds of pitches that 95% of ODI cricket is played on - doubled because we persevere with these same players, who are still not good enough, on the basis of playing well on probably the most seam-friendly wicket in the world.

Not that we're a cert from here, given that we've got them in all kinds of trouble - 2 slips is a nonsense. We did this in Hobart when we had Aus 50-4.
You watch... a few boundaries and we'll go all defensive like a bunch of wanqers
Still, might force Broad to pitch it up.

I'd love it if Broad bowled a match-losing spell of 0/60 in these conditions.

So it looks like Cook is definitely from the Andrew Strauss school of captaincy.
Shame.

'Kin enda Lever, that's the nearest you get to apoplectic with rage.
Everyone else, do you see what this England team is doing to Lever? They've broken the best of us!
Re: England vs Sri Lanka, 4th ODI, Trent Bridge, 6 July, 2011
Sri Lanka will probably scrape to 220 here. They might not have the pace attack to defend that, but if we were playing South Africa or Australia on this pitch under lights chasing 220, we'd be f*cked.

Farqin pisses me off - ah now we have them 57-5. Let's take all the slips out now then.

This partnership has 'rebuild' written all over it. Mathews is a very good player.
