Re: Date or no date?
Would be tempted to with the ex but I think it would annoy me more than her.
And I don't want to annoy or betray the new one so no point there either.

Re: Date or no date?
The new one? You're still not sure, right?
If you genuinely think you like this girl, and there MIGHT be a chance of a meaningful relationship down the track, don't bugger things up by making a move too soon. If you only broke up with your ex a matter of weeks ago and she meant a lot to you, you SHOULD still be in a fragile state, whether you realise it or not. That state may show itself to this new girl and she might become wary. Girls can read guys much better than we like to admit.
Give yourself a mandatory period of 2-3 months of shagging around. Get it all out of your system, then look at this girl again, and if you still like her and think you can have a relationship with her, go for it.

Re: Date or no date?
I don't see a meaningful relationship down the line. I could shag her but I'd rather remain friends.
I am of course being a bit presumptious it has to be said.

I just added that bit on the one in a million chance that she lurks here, I think I might have mentioned a cricket forum before.

Good for you, vilks. I just hope she doesn't start telling her friends that you are a limp-dicked pansy who wouldn't make a move on her, even though she was gagging for it.

Re: Date or no date?
Is the title of this thread a wink towards Deal or No Deal?
In which case, I say open the box.

Anyway, opening the box seems the greedy option so I'm going to deal.

I'm meant Dello!
I'm sure Dellorific will get the analogy... I only know that Edmonds is the host.

"Do you want to go for food earlier?"
Eugh. I don't even know what that means, if anything at all...

I said that I would usually say yes but that I had man flu and was struggling to keep anything down. Thought that would deromanticise the situation a bit.

Re: Date or no date?
Hmmmmm. Sounds dodge. You sound like some sherbert with an eating disorder, or at the very least a 'weird food thing'.
Re: Date or no date?
I didn't get a reply so just told her to call me when she gets back from work and I'll see how I feel.
Remember I'm trying to take any date element out of the equation altogether and going to dinner together before that doesn't sound good.

Oh you Winnie lot. Didn't have to be a three courser under the light of candles!
Does sound like she's a little keen.

She was testing you out for cunnilingus proclivities.
Brass Monkey wrote:The answer is 'Yeah, that would be good actually. Where do you want to go?'.
And you would have got the plain truth.

It certainly would. You might as well have said: "Sorry, the smell usually puts me off, bigtime."

Or someone scared of eating out on your first date.

Re: Date or no date?
Aye, it's a risky business, but I'd have suggested a pub for food. I mean, I suggested a similar thing to a mate of mine last week and it doesn't mean I want to bang him. I do like eating with people though... probably sounds sad. Or greedy. Or both.

Admit it. You're just a bit shitless at any number of things that might go amisss.
But as Monkehh says, "dinner" is not necessarily a five course banquet in the town's top caff. It's having something to eat.
Having something to eat would be reassuring for her too, most likely. It's an unpressured social thing, or should be. And it should give you both a chance to assess the wisdom/desirability of further movements. It's not a fing lifetime commitment!!
Ducking dinner is the sort of thing a pants-full sherbert does...
Go for it - are you a man, or are you a mouse? (And DON'T squeak a reply.)

It's a social thing.
It's a sign of being relatively human, generally.

Aye, I suppose... I did a 6-day eating out fest last week I expect my humanity has grown, along with my gut.
Re: Date or no date?
Sorry Petey, but you are the last person I would be taking advice from on here with regards to women .
Dan seems to have spoken the most sense, strangely.

You screwed up. Now if you had taken her out to celebrate International Womens' Day, you would have been in like Flimt.

Re: Date or no date?
Had a quality night in the end, went for the dressed down look as did she. Still think there's a bit of chemistry that might need to be talked about at some point but at the moment it feels awesome to have a female mate who I can go out and have such a good time with.
Happy days.
