Too-fitty will be a worthy 1st innings target.

Aye. It will at least give the bowlers something to defend. Still a way to go but.
Re: Shield Final: Mighty Tasmania v Wimpy Billies, 2011-12
6/208 at stumps. First day honours go to the Billies. The tacky nature of the Gabba wicket can't excuse the lack of aggression by Tassie. The inclusion of Kruger may prove to be the 'straw' for Tassies back. Given his total failure this year, there must have been better options.

Why did the Tozzies bat. Surely unleashing Tweety early was the way to go.

Judgement call. Even Hopes said it was a toss he was happy to lose.

Tozzies may get the better bowling conditions as the wicket quickens up a bit tomoz.

Bad back and all, Magoffin gets two in the first half hour, but this Gabba deck is doing plenty. Tozzies aover 230 now and it's looking a competitive total.

Little Billy gets his Michelle. Rhino goes OK at 1st slip. Tozzies 9-241.

Didn't quite make it.

For two four one.
Scion of Billy Mac comes up trumps.
McDermott for Australia?

At 2.23. Barnacle Bailey standards. And he only did that in desperate Tests.
Do the Tozzies usually crab their way along like that, or is it a devil pitch?

It was hard work for the Tozzies. I think the Doubleheaders have the bowling cattle to make the Babnjos struggle on this deck.

Butters removes both Banjo openers early. Billies 2-9 after 9. Banjos still need 32 to avoid follow-on.

Billies 2/5 at lunch.
Little Billy continues to impress. I can't recall a time where pace bowling stocks in Australia were so deep.

And it doesn't seem that long ago, with the filthy Midge "leading" the attack, that our stocks seemed woefully inadequate. Well done to the Grades and States on getting the conveyor belt going again.JGK wrote:Little Billy continues to impress. I can't recall a time where pace bowling stocks in Australia were so deep.

Queensland batting looks very short on experience ("green") in FC cricket. Do they depend heavily on Burns?

Jackson Bird- Potential Australian bowler? Or State trundler being made to look good by spicy pitches?

Did you post that before or after he took his first wicket turning Lynn inside-out, Trev? Banjos in deep shit at 5-56.

To me, he looks like Australia's answer to Jon Lewis FFS. Same kind of build, height, action, everything.....

Agreed, Trev. I thought the same thing about his action, but couldn't quite place the bowler he reminded me of. Cheers, Jon Lewis it is.
