Re: The Golf Thread (III)
Not to be that guy, but it has more often been the Australians who stumble when crossing the line in this sport.

Correct re Norman, especially Norman, definitely Norman....always Norman
Some Oz players won tournaments, inc majors out of step with their talents. Ogilvie, Grady and the Elk were good ordinary pros who won majors.
Badds.com, Appleby and Allenby have way too many deficiencies in their game to be serious contenders.
Scott lost a Brit Open on his own phlegm sticking in the throat. But he gained redemption at the Masters. Day too has done it hard but got there.
Norman was the primo talented player in an era of relatively limited talent. He was an undoubted choker, of such ability that he could coach the saffie's cricket team.

Yeah - 10 in total (first Australian to have 10 before turning 30 as it turns out).

Not the worst idea. Especially in a sport with such a clear hierarchy of tournaments. if chess and snooker can have rapid versions, then golf surely can.

Huzzah! Great article. I sometimes play with some Aboriginal mates who in their working lives deal with some dire situations. These are never discussed on course. We tease and laugh about our appalling golf.
