Mick

I have no doubt Watto has talent ....and if given a long run to establish himself in the team would develop into a Test class player ...however his injury record is shocking and he denies himself the chance of the long run he needs ...rushing him back into the team after every injury doesn't help and denies other players the chance to develop

A winter off from playing may help him get to the strength required to stay injury free

Mate, you are probably right. However, an Ashes series in the UK only comes each four years so you can hardly think less of the player for making himself available. As for the NSP, they only selected him conditional upon a medical clearance.

We accept that footballers succumb to injury. They still get selected on (fitness) probability & talent. I honestly don't see the difference.

Looking at that squad, it seems the selectors are hoping for a deep batting, deep bowling team; lots of options for Punter . . .

Hews
Fleas
Punter
Pup
Huss
North
Hadditt
Pollywaffle/Ranga
Midge
Bung/Gump
Vicious

This is NOT the team I'd want to play, but it looks to be the one the NSP are pushing towards . . .

I think Watto's biggest problem at the moment is that we have no spinner ...so North's offies give him the advantage ...and why Roy should have been picked

I know he doesn't like to coz of his back/shoulder, but Fleas had better warm up those leggies in the nets . . . I can see him running through the poms on a turning deck . . . Laughing

Both of them might yet play a big part in the series. Hussey needs to score a lot of runs or at least look like he's capable of scoring runs very early in the tour.

Ranga and WHI FFS, but otherwise predictable. Can't say I'm surprised Roy has been gunned but I would've had him in for one of the two aforementioned FFSs. Bolly possibly unlucky.

no matter how good your set up ...you'll have to wait for the Trev to arrive if you want your balls touched in an acceptable (to you) manner

No, but you've been pretty "matey" with a certain SGDT . .. .

Anyway, how did a thread on the Ashes squad suddenly turn into a discussion of your sexual fantasies?

Should the NSP have given Ricky the (2) heads-up that Roy wasn't in the team ...He's been spruiking him up in the media before the team was announced ...and now he's having to answer questions about why he isnt in the team

or should they have just told him to STFU about selections

Brendon Julian posting his thoughts on FoxSports News blog:

"2:09pm: From BJ: If a side is supposed to be picked based on form what is Mike Hussey doing in a team, as much as I admire him, what has he done in the past 12 months to warrant automatic selection? And don't get me started on Shane Watson - how many times is he going to get injured before the selectors give up on him - he is likely to break down first match. Has he even bowled since his last injury (the one before his groin "niggle" I mean)? So much for bringing an allround "balance" to the team. I think a team without a fit Andrew Symonds doesn't look as threatening. Can't believe the selectors would pick someone "subject to fitness" when there are so many other great cricketers in this country."

Some sage stuff in there.
