Re: KP out for the series
beamer wrote:In terms of the KP situation, surely it should have been addressed earlier in the season, it's been an ongoing problem for a while hasn't it? He could have sat out other parts of the season to sort this, even the T20 which we were always going to do pretty crap in. But instead he misses the most important month or so in English cricket for the last few years. We wouldn't have cared if he had missed the next 18 months if he'd made it through these three Tests and helped us to victory, they need to identify who's to blame for this mess and show them the exit door.
Everyone knew - everyone - that he'd end up having surgery on it. But, being the bright sparks they are, England tried to put it off for as long as possible - perhaps to get full value for their central contract.
Predictably, it's blown up in their faces. If, as they're saying, his recovery period is six weeks (sounds optimistic - incompetently so), he could've missed the WI minnow-bash and the T20s and still been back in plenty of time for the Ashes.
But no.
A middle order of Bopara, Bell and Collingwood looks the dictionary definition of "soft underbelly", but it looks like that's how it's going to be. You never know - might work. Who would've backed Monty to bat out a draw? It's a weird Ashes.
One that England are going to have to win the hard way...

They're not the auld enemy for Kaypez.
Your boy's coming home...

Bad luck to KP, but it does give Aus something to be upbeat about - England without their best batsman.

And to rub salt into our already gaping and festering wounds, he'll probably feast on our dross bowling.

With no KP to destroy the team's spirit, England will now win the Ashes 4-0.

Indeed, plus their fielding improves.
You have to think it's advantage England.
However, if anything is going to get TGM out of the box and onto the field it is the return of Tinker

Re: KP out for the series
heard the Icy Pole on the radio this am...by Jupiter it is clear freddie loathes KP...first he talked about how he would play out the series unless hi knee cap fell off and said every pom was the same. He was then asked about the saffie grub...the icy pole rather coldly said he was a great player who would be missed...
i think Aust chances have gone downhill with the KP op...it is clear that he is loathed in the pom dressing room...with the selection of the shermanator england will be united and be spurred on by its true spirit (sorry Ange)

It'd be a strange team if everyone loved each other. I don't know why people get hung up on personalities.

Re: KP out for the series
Vaughan is clearly out of the loop. I believe Strauss and Flower banned the "We all average 40" argument back in the Caribbean.
