No, but it does seperate out the wheat from the chaff most times.

Yep it does, but it didn't separate out and out ordinary bats like Chopra and Gambhir.

nor does it mean bose and pankaj kumar will ever be good international class bowlers

ranji is too loose a guide. there is too much disparity in team quality and lots of people cash in on easy wickets against poor bowling. you need a very keen selectorial eye to pick the special talents

the 2 tier system is a good idea, but they should allow easy transfers between teams to concentrate the cream at the top. india cant take more than 6-7 very good teams, the rest have to act as feeders with a relegation-promotion system much like football

Chopra and Gambhir have both had their moments. It's not like they've been complate failures. Chopra was a key factor in India drawing the series against Aus in 2003-04.

What a terrible game between Delhi and Rajasthan. How can you be so bad as to collapse to 85 on a OK pitch against a team spearheaded by Amit Bhandari? The 1st innigns was a competition between the two teams as to who could be more shit. Pankaj Singh is impressive.

What else you'd expect?

Greg Chappell is Rajasthan's Director of Cricket.

Phurt...Patel was the key factor in drawing the series ...the subis would have won without his efforts

True, embee.

For this reason alone, Parthiv Patel should never be allowed to come anywhere near Indian team.

I forgot about that.

Has Ajay Jadeja retired now? He was the playing coach or something like that last season. They did quite well from what I remember, got to the ODI finals. If he has someone needs to sign him up as a commentator.

As for Pujara and Kohli, too early to say anything about them. Pujara looks loads better in the longer forms, like Tiwary, though.

as a keeper. If he keeps up his recent form with the bat, I won't grudge him a place as a specialist bat.

His past sins as India's WK would still be more than enough for him not to be played ever in any capacity in Indian team.

bombay would probably fancy a 45 over 200 chase. can always shut shop after 2-3 wickets, with nayar and naik promoted up the order and jaffer and amol preserved at the end

What a senseless declaration by Kumble!! Does he expect Mumbai to go for 255 runs in last session? Mumbai had nothing to lose, while K'taka had everything to gain by going for quick runs and early declaration.

May be he was just helping Dravid to regain a place in Indian team.

yeah quite surprising. have they started giving points again for a team drawing with a 1st innings deficit? the only logical reason i can think of. makes for poor cricket

Only Delhi and UP could post outright wins in their super league clashes, rest 4 matches were drawn encounters.

The only match which is still going on, Hyderabad is facing an uphill battle to avoid defeat against Bengal. They're ahead of Bengal by 31 runs with just 4 2nd innings wickets remaining.

VVS's lack of runs (18 runs in 2 innings, including a duck) is surely a cause for concern.

That match is also drawn with Bengal bowlers getting just 3 wickets on the final day. looks like all the pitches have been aweful! When will BCCI provide good sporting pitches for FC competition?

As VVS and Kumble, I suppose they returned to field after a long time. They might take one more match to get into the groove.

Rajasthan finally dismissed for 105.

Since the time Greg Chappell has assumed charge of Rajasthan cricket's operations, their scores have been,

85, 249 and 105.

VVS is dismissed cheaply again for 38 against Punjab. He has now scored just 56 runs in 3 innings of Ranji Super League.

Worrying times for Indian think tank ahead of test series against Pak.

There doesn't seem to be much change in Bengal's fortunes even after half the team defected to ICL. Currently 201/0 against Baroda.

Munaf picked up wickets, must be in with a shout for a call up now after the Irani Trophy showing as well. Dhawan again out for a 30-40 odd.

I must admit Munaf is posing himself as a serious threat for inclusion in India's test lineup.

I'd have him ahead of Kartik as he doesn't have much of a chance to play in final XI.
