Re: Mitchell Johnson...Overrated? or a Star of the Future.
Aye McSofty was twice the bowler Bung is. Him and the fat sh!t weren't a bad partnership.
I though Johnson was overrated. I'm in two minds now. Not sure he's a 'once in a generation bowler' either way.

Re: Mitchell Johnson...Overrated? or a Star of the Future.
180 test wickets at 30 is my prediction for Johnson.

Fat sh!t - Merv Hughes? Kinda confusing because Australian cricket hasn't been in a crisis of fat sh!ts.

Well, it's hardly going to be Taylor or Boon.

A glaring omission admittedly, but no - they didn't play together too much. Billy got more broken as he went on. Pidge was in place and Fleming amongst others were about.

Ponting's opinion on Johnson.
Fats.
Johnson earns first baggy green
November 07, 2007
QUEENSLAND quick Mitchell Johnson will make his Test debut at home at the Gabba after Australia settled on its first Test team to play Sri Lanka starting on Thursday.
Australia's selectors have made Tasmania paceman Ben Hilfenhaus 12th man, handing left-armer Johnson his first Test start as the replacement for retired great Glenn McGrath.
Sri Lanka named 12 players on Wednesday, with the 12th man to be announced on the morning of the first day.
The 26-year-old Johnson is also a strong chance of taking the new ball with fellow firebrand Brett Lee against the out-of-sorts Sri Lanka top-order.
Skipper Ricky Ponting indicated he had a tough choice between Johnson and the impressive Stuart Clark as Lee's new-ball partner.
A meeting between senior players and selectors and the early conditions on Thursday is set to decide who will get first crack at the tourist.
Overcast skies in Brisbane, with showers forecast for the next three days, should suit fast bowling but Ponting said there was never any serious consideration given to including Hilfenhaus in a four-pronged pace attack.
The bounce in the Gabba wicket will also assist leg spinner Stuart MacGill in the manner which Shane Warne enjoyed during his illustrious career.
Ponting expects Johnson to hit the ground running in the Test arena after taking 40 wickets at an average of 24 runs in 25 one-day internationals.
"I've been really excited about Mitch for the last couple of years to tell you the truth," Ponting said today.
"He'll be a bit nervous tomorrow there's no doubt about that but he has everything required to be successful at this level.
"He's a great athlete, he's very fit, he's very strong, he can bowl 150kph and swing the ball.
"He's got everything there, it's just a matter of him relaxing into the game tomorrow and letting his natural skills and abilities take over."

Over rated slinger from chip central.
Will give Nicholarse a new target to take him away for his rather disturbing fascination over Bing.

That'll be the last time he goes near Fark Nicholas again without safety goggles.

Doubt if Lillee, McGrath, Lindwall, McKenzie, Marshall, Ambrose, Roberts, Garner, Hall, Hadlee, Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, or even Andy Caddick or Steve Harmison had shown their entite repertoire one innings and six overs into their Test careers either.

At least half a dozen of his fuller pitched deliveries have straightened and been mentioned in commentation.
MG is psyched out by the slips signalling for the ball leaving the right hander.
He is better off being allowed to bowl as he did in India without advice.

I thought Midge looked promising. Consistantly in the low to mid 140 kphs with the odd 148 or so, with a good off stump line. And he had some shape back into the right handers. I reckon he might do OK.
