I think Sturat will get there (along with the other two). 10 from GCS for a startlardbucket wrote:Anderson 15 for 700
Broad 24 for 600 (doubtful)

Re: Test milestones
Be surprised if Broad plays much of the series if Stokes gets the decks he wants. Anderson might not be pleased, either, if he gets the fast flat decks he seems keen on.

Joffrey’s already injured and sure Glassy won’t be far behind. I expect old-school English seaming pitches as opposed to those that will play into the hands of Second and Ned… one final fling for our old boys (yeah, they’re younger than me, as are all remaining elite sportsmen outside of snooker, darts, golf and clay pigeon shooting, now Tom Brady’s called it a day, the silly bastard sacrificing a supermodel wife for one more season of mediocrity…)lardbucket wrote:Be surprised if Broad plays much of the series if Stokes gets the decks he wants. Re: Test milestones
Archer Wood Robinson and Stone would seem to be the main hopes for England IFTokes is genuine in his request for hard flat wickets and the curators respond. It seems a strange request given the skills of Anderson and Broad would be negated by this strategy.

Perhaps the pitch prep request will have changed, given the injuries now in that list.

Smith needs 319 runs to be the highest scoring Smith in Test cricket. Third or Fourth Test? (Maybe Second, if he takes a leaf out of his Yarpie predecessor’s book…)

Re: Test milestones
Spotted them next to each other on the all-time runs list. Not as many Smiths as you might expect who have made a mark on Test cricket, it appears the only ones with >1000 Test runs are:
Graeme 9265
Steve 8927
Robin 4236
MJK 2278
Ian 1815
Devon 1760
Collie 1331
Between those seven they have represented five different countries as well!

Not to mention Captain Stokes declaring before sufficient wickets have fallen.

Re: Test milestones
The Australian tail has been very poor for some time now. The days of number 8 and 9 coming in and making a supportive 70 or more (1989 and 2005 stand out in recent memory, with names like Hughes, Lawson, Warne, B Hogg) are long gone. Only Starc performs and he's out ...

At least this time PC managed to scrape a few runs together, as unconvincing as they were, for one of the first times since he became Akela.

Re: Test milestones
We’re typically terrible at bowling to tailenders as well, though maybe Stokes’s unorthodox captaincy has addressed that to an extent… nobody else has the track record of letting some rabbit get his eye in and smash 70 while the bowlers are reduced to rabbits in the headlights. The typical lack of express pace or mystery spin in England sides contributes as well, with our seamers the bad batsmen tend to miss the balls the good ones might nick.

Cummins needs 62 for 1000 runs: SECOND TEST needs 24 in the second innings here to arrive early
Carey needs 197 for 1000 runs: THIRD TEST tracking OK but probably won't make target
Lyon needs 13 wickets for 500: THIRD TEST needs 'only' 5 at Lords to arrive early
Starc needs 102 for 2000 runs: FOURTH TEST
Head needs 458 for 3000 runs: maybe FIFTH TEST
Khawaja needs 492 for 5000 runs: maybe FIFTH TEST tracking well but won't make it
