Midge is only 10 wickets shy of 200 in Tests, but that seems unlikely ever to occur now.

I was wrong about that!

Hilfenhaus seems destined to remain stranded on 99 wickets; can't see how he could possibly have been worse with ball or bat than that muppet O'Keefe.

Hope Ryan Harris can come back.

Copied and pasted from the test thread-

Before Misbah, who was the last test batsman to score a hundred after his 40th birthday? Sachin didn't manage it, did he? Was it Gooch sometime around 1993-94?

Just looked it up- Sachin's last test century was at the age of 37 (which surprises me....he really went a long time without a ton before he retired)

Yep, and before that it was Gooch in June 1994. A double century against New Zealand.

Only four players - Stewart, Tendulkar, Misbah and Chanderpaul - have played Test cricket after their 40th birthday this century. I don't think there's too many candidates to join that list in the near future either - Rogers and Haddin appear to be the only currently active players aged 37-39.

The only looming milestone I can see amongst the Aussies is Siddle's Test 1000 runs, which used to be an unofficial mark of the bowling all-rounder.

Johnson (175 away), Smith (90) and Warner (12) are all closing in on significant milestones ... 2000, 2000, and 3000 Test runs. It really is incredible that Warner has accumulated nearly 3000 Test runs already.

Looming milestones for Australians:

Johnson needs 1 run and 1 wicket for the 2000 run, 300 wicket double: both should occur at Edgbaston.

Smith needs just 74 runs for the 3000 run milestone: fairly likely to occur at Edgbaston.

Rogers needs 138 runs for the 2000 run milestone: this might take the rest of the series, or not occur at all, but given recent form, I wouldn't bet against this occurring at Edgbaston as well. The NLWDVGL.

Looming milestones for English players:

Stokes needs 136 runs for 1000.

Broad needs 4 wickets for 300.

Be interesting to look at the result if Stokes gets his but Smith and Rogers don't get there's.

That'd be a thrashing of the good guys if that were to occur.

It's hard to believe that Broad has taken nearly 300 wickets.

Yeah the amount of tests played nowadays is really putting some of these "milestones" (correct term regardless, I know) in perspective.

Midge crossed 2000 runs yesterday and should get to 300 wickets today. It is possible, theoretically at least, that Broad will also cross the 300 wicket mark later today. I bet that (two bowlers cracking the 300 Test wicket barrier on the same day) hasn't occurred previously.

Well done Steyn. Who was the memorable 400th victim?
