aye, he is at that price. Majors are won by those with strong minds that week. Composure is not the first thing that comes to mind with Bubba. I guess that's why he's at that kind of offer.

It's supposed to be belting down at Augusta too. So the bigger hitters with dodgy short games will be further advantaged

It's amazing how quickly Tiger has become the favourite again, after just one tournament win.
Darren Clarke would be weather dependent, I'd think. He really excels in poor weather and the par 3s were cancelled because of poor weather conditions. Quiros is a better Colsaerts (who is extremely inconsistent) in my opinion, top bloke who I'd love to see win a major, not the most consistent. He can get a top round followed up by a rubbish one.

Also, a mate is at Augusta at the moment. Reckons Rory was playing sh1t yesterday off the tee.

Wouldn't take Stenson with those odds and considering what he has done recently and his record at Augusta.

How is Rory's play in bad weather? I can't remember him ever being very good in poor conditions.

Paul Lawrie wouldn't have flattering odds and he's been having a good run since last year and could do well. Could turn out shite too. 275 for the win and 66 for top European at bet365, even longer odds on betfair.

Kaymer at 2 under after 8 holes. 4 birdies in them. Decent start

Shows what I know, leading by 3 strokes. At least Paul Lawrie had a good round and Quiros, Day and Donald have dug themselves a nice deep hole too. Decent start from Westwood, I'm not sure about the stat exactly but his early rounds have hurt his chances of winning this year.

Getting better for Lee, 3 under after 7. Kaymer even today, could make the cut. Stenson now at 5 under and 2 ahead, with the difficult 18th to come.

Didn't Woosnam say that he'd not play golf anymore after his struggles last year?

Stenson's shat it on the eighteenth and Westwood with four straight birdies could be an early leader. Mahan's got off nicely too. Belly putter for Jimenez, must've change it in recent weeks, didn't remember him using it till a few weeks ago.

As it turns out, a closing 8 for Stenson. Bad luck.

Looks like Donald dodged a bullet

"World No 1 Luke Donald was cleared to continue in The Masters after what was described as an 'administrative error' regarding his scorecard.

Donald was disappointed with a three over par 75, but that was then changed to a 73 on scoreboards and officials were asked to investigate.

The 34-year-old had three-putted the fifth green for a bogey five, but the figure was entered into the scoring system as a three and hence the discrepancy."

------------------------------

Meanwhile Lee Westwood has shot an excellent 5 under 67. Go him.

The Beeb really are a useless bunch of twats, Westwood surging ahead and leaving the rest of the big names trailing? He's one stroke ahead of a Major champion and a very good player and the 3 under group is also super strong. His tee to green was fantastic yesterday, went a couple of clubs short for the second shot on the tenth and bogeyed, apart from that it was excellent.

Ha! Fred Couples leading after two rounds. There's nearly always a veteran former champion who stands up well in the first couple of rounds before age, fraying nerves, and the realisation that he's right in the mix at his age catches up with him.

With Tom Watson at the Open a couple of years ago it took until the very last hole for that to happen...

Are there any other sports where such a thing is possible for a competitor the wrong side of 50? Other than darts and snooker perhaps?

You hear about footballers and cricketers in the past who played up to the age of 50 or so at a high level, that has seemed to disappear more recently due to perhaps the increasing physical demands and intensity of schedule. Now it's rare to see someone at the top beyond 40 at the most. But could the likes of Tendulkar and on the football side Giggs and Scholes etc. with over 20 years at the very highest level be the sign of that trend reversing, due to better fitness regimes and so on? Still takes a special kind of character to remain motivated for that long but it could be the age barrier is being raised again gradually.

Jack Hobbs played first class cricket into his 50s, didn't he? These days 39 seems to be the absolute limit, and almost everyone is past their best by about 35.

As far as Tendulkar is concerned, I actually think he peaked as far as raw talent is concerned around 2002. Since then he changed his game slightly, became less risky, and turned into more of an accumulator than a dashing stroke player.

He's very un-Swedish, Stenson. Rather than being cool, calm, and collected, he's actually a bit of an emotional hot-head.

Top recovery from Paul Lawrie to finish off with 3 birdies, 72 for him. Westwood really made a stupid double on the final, could have been much worse than 73 though.

Oosthuizen's interview post his round, which I couldn't see a hole of, was interesting. According to him the early holes were very difficult due to the cold and damp conditions and eased off considerably in the latter holes. Weird that the later starters weren't special either.

Kaymer's made the cut finally, not in a proud fashion, but he's still in.
