Yes. And rising.

Time to put a moratorium on further Aussie medal wins, until the others have had a chance to make some inroads.

Not just Cameroon it seems. Every shithole country in Africa have jumped ship including Sierra Leone & Uganda. Won't do them any good. They won't get refugee status & will be rounded up & deported. Shame...they probably have more to offer than our average refo's.

Fantastic win by the Aus Mens Beach Volleyball duo. At 1 set all and 9-12 down, I thought they were shot. The crowd really lifted them.

I repeat - Geez, I thought we were shit at Track & Field.

We've just won the Mens pole vault, are odds on to win the Womens discus, were a bees dick from Gold in the Womens long jump and are going well in the Womens heptathlon

England's Hughes DQed after flapping his left arm outside his lane and impeding the fast finishing TTO's Richards.

How very negative. We can only beat those we are up against.

Perform poorly and we are a Commonwealth laughing stock. Normally the Poms smash us in T&F, so I'm enjoying our excellent results.

Go the Aussies.

Not being negative, just realistic. Not a lot of competition in many of the sports, and we have a home advantage. We've done well and here's lots of PBs, but let's not get carried away; most of the Gold medal winners, barring a few of the swimmers, would not have made an Olympic or WC final.

We are only beating those we're up against, when we beat them, because we're not up against much.

He seemed oblivious of his chances of being disqualified. Tamsin thought he wouldn't be, but Lord Seb thought he would.

This is politically incorrect, but spot the odd one out in the field below.

This is mostly true. Must admit anyone who knows a thing or two about the various sports understands this, but my main beef is with the bias of the commentators. They want us to win EVERYTHING. Sometimes it's good to see someone from an obscure country win like the guy from the British Virgin Islands who was their first ever gold medallist.

The Frayne train did all right against a world class competitor in the men's LJ.

Talking about Frayne, I saw in this morning's erstwhile big Melbourne daily, that they had our wicketkeeper Tim's name rhyming with it. The absence of sub-editors is really noticeable.

I guess the point I was trying to make was our significant improvement in T&F. Historically Aus has done very well in the Comm Games swimming and cycling, lead the medal count and then been swamped by the UK in the T&F, not to necessarily top the medal count but certainly to get closer to Aus.

I'm pleased we have won a bag of T&F gold.

I reserve the right to get excited at the Golds by the likes of Starc, Marschall, Crombie and Davies, as it's often a Pom or some South Pacific Island giant taking these events at the Comm Games.

If you prefer to "meh" I maintain that's negative.

Shows how weak our athletics is really, if we’re losing to the Aussies... global medal prospects for the next few years look thin on the ground. We’ve had a golden era in a way this decade, but it was always lacking in medal winning depth behind Mo, Jess and Greg. The squad’s basically full of borderline finalists who might get a 4th or 5th place if they produce their absolute best.

Only the relays saved us from an embarrassing home World Championship showing last year. The first medal-free major event for UK athletics might not be too far off.
