Smerky isn't a proper football fan, JK. He's just a professional Welsh person.

From Neath, lived in Cardiff. Would be nice to see a Welsh team in the Premier League. Whether it happens tomorrow or not, I hope it's a good match. Otherwise Chiv will be ramming something quite unsavoury down my throat.
Could be a bad day if it rains in Cardiff and Glamorgan continue to get a hammering.

I'm not going to bother now, Smerky. A plastic football fan like you cannot appreciate the nuances of football culture, so why waste my time and effort? Good luck to both Swansea and Reading who have both played football in the right way this season. Both managers are pretty inexperienced. I'm sure Rodgers will be keen to prove a point having been perceived as a complete joke figure in his short time at Reading. I guess you could say his sacking worked out for both parties.

Please define the plastic part of supporting Welsh football in the Premier League. Because it's two teams and I haven't pledged allegiance to one?
I enjoy football, plain and simple.

A bluey cheering on the f*cking Jacks? What the f*ck is the world coming to? We must've f*cked you up on here really bad man.
Wanting the Jacks to win? I've seen it all now. I really have.
Re: The Football Thread - 10/11 (II)
Oh, a professional Welshie eh? I get it. I expect the 'plastic' part came from the fact you are in no part parochial on a small scale. Me, I'm parochial. If Kettering get into the league, I wouldn't like it. Rushden & Diamonds being in the league above us for a season? I COULDN'T STAND IT. Peterborough? Don't even get me started on them. Won today, makes me feel a little queasy. Now the MK Dons? F*cking HATE them more than anyone else.
So that's what I reckon Chiv means. You don't understand.

Don't be like that old chap, blimey o'jabba!
Alls I was doing was explaining the fine, delicate art of rabid small-mindedness. You've got it too, but on a larger, countrywide scale. No worries. C'mon man. You know I loves ya baby.

I blame him for nothing. Only for taking my post in entirely the wrong light. I only hope I haven't darked his mindset enough to stop him from frequenting the place.
Re: The Football Thread - 10/11 (II)
You can't be blaming him for that - he is welsh afterall. If there are two ways to take something he is genetically predisposed to choose the wrong one.

Well I'll wipe the blame debt, clean off. I'll spare him of any guilt. He's got enough on his plate.

One of the best finals I've seen for many a year.
Well played, Swansea. Commiserations to Reading.
Swansea in the Premier League. Incredible stuff.

Re: The Football Thread - 10/11 (II)
Great game, probably not as good as last year's because Reading weren't in it for a lot of the game. Thought the ref was a bit soft, Reading probably should have been down to nine men by the end. They'd have probably thanked him if he'd sent Griffin off; can't cross, can't run, can't pass, can't tackle. Guess that's what happens when you spend a few years at Stoke. Swansea did well to be so in control when they were struggling to get Dyer into the game.
Both sides need to invest in some new full-backs.

Re: The Football Thread - 10/11 (II)
Was a good game. Not sure the quality was up to much, and - predictably - I'll tip Swansea for relegation, but they were the better team. Reading looked a bit of a rabble.
Re: The Football Thread - 10/11 (II)
Can't see Swansea going down to be honest. Not after one season.
They play just as attacking football as Blackpool, but can defend better.
Who knows though.
90 million in the bank now for the Swans. No need to flog it on a stadium upgrade or anything. Just time to bring in some fresh legs for the PL.
They'll be keen to keep Borini and Sinclair as those two have become hot property in the blink of an eye.

I think Borini's promised to an Italian club on a permanent transfer. Parma or someone like that. I vaguely recall reading it somewhere. So it must be true.
Just as attacking as Blackpool? In intent, perhaps. But Blackpool had Charlie Adam - everything went through him. I didn't see Swansea's midfield having anyone even remotely close to that level of quality.
Goalkeeper looks a clown, defence looks weak, midfield lacks quality, star striker is just a loan who won't be there next season - they won't last. But good on them anyway.
Re: The Football Thread - 10/11 (II)
I'm now feeling slightly older than I am because I can remember Swans last foray into the top flight.
