Re: The Thread of Worship Towards the Almighty James Taylor
Shocking news.
A bad loss for England too, - but once again, such shocks put the game in proportion.
Operation in the next few days - I cross n=my fingers all goes well and that he'll be fit and firing again very shortly. For one still relatively young, he has a lot of knowledge, nous and grit - I hope he can put that to good use coaching, or whatever opportunities may arise.

I presume that the 'operation' will be the implantation of a combination pacemaker/defibrillator. You can't remove an electrical irregularity ...

Jeez, nasty news for Taylor. I suppose the good news is that they found this out now. Good luck to him in the future.

Well, well. What a selfish tosser, ruining all my hopes and dreams. Seriously though, it's good that they discovered this issue and he'll be alive and (mostly) well albeit without cricket, instead of dying on a cricket field.

Terrible news. A gutsy little player. He should emigrate to Oz and teach our clueless batsmen how to play spin.

Makes you wonder what would have happened had he taken a solid blow to the chest from a ball either batting or at short leg.....

Tangential thought - is this why the word "procedure" appears largely to have taken over from "operation"?
(Or that just in the UK? where it seems even - to a surprising extent - to have become fairly common parlance, not just medics' language)

I guess it's between Bell and Ballance for Taylor's spot in the test side.

Good that they found it in time. I can't help thinking of promising Tassie batsman Scott Mason who collapsed from a heart condition during a net session & died two days later aged just 28.

Apt quote from Fabrice Muamba - "Having life is a geat option."

Same memories as BD regarding young Scott Mason.

I knew it had been a while, but it's been over 6 months since this from Dello.

I can understand why pig******s would be insulted by a comparison with merlo. However, after all the things merlo was called over many years, I am a bit surprised that he sooked off long-term after a mild Dello barb.

me too...thought it an over reaction...I miss sparring with the old tory...and his bizarre brawls with Nigel (always funny when far right loons dook it out, albeit with marshmallows in their gloves). I think Merls thought Nigels views on anything but servants were risible.
