He's done a bit of work on ABC radio too. Went OK. Good luck to him.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
It's amazing that Chris Simpson stayed on Queensland's books for so long. I mean look at his stats, FFS!
He's like Australia's answer to Adrian Shankar, only Simpson is genuine....and a worse cricketer.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Sad news regarding Geeves and Carseldine, both of whom would probably have played Test cricket but for untimely injuries.
Simpson the Queenslander was a fine fieldsman and fierce hitter ... his bowling was probably marginally less penetrating than that of Doherty, Heal, and a host of similar dart purveyors. He might have been useful at T20 with his explosive hitting ability.

Henry wrote:Brett Geeves has announced his retirement after suffering a stress fracture of the back which kept him out of most of last season.
He seemed a bit of a character in Australian cricket when most of the players are overly media trained and dull.
"An explosive fast bowler, he took 140 first-class wickets at 33.1.
But he is also probably best remembered for being stranded twice on 99 not out in the same season when No. 11 Tim Macdonald was dismissed on both occasions, denying him what would have been his only first-class century."
.......and to make matters worse, McDonald has gone back to WA this season.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
Looks like the Gropers will have a competative squad next season, which is more than you can say for the Qbillies. I'd say they are going to be the cannon fodder for 2011-12.

A little more on our 16 year old superstar.
He is now 17 year old, but when he was 16 year old in season 2010/11, the highlights of Nick Stevens season included -
Topping the batting averages & aggregates at the Under 17 carnival
Batting Statistics Australian U17 Carnival 2010/11
Scoring a century in a Future Leagues match for Qld vs WA
http://www.cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Scorecards/302/302065.html
Scoring a half century on his test debut
http://www.cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Scorecards/333/333341.html
Lowlights of his 2010/11 season include -
Averaging only 23 in the Brisbane First Grade comp.
..... but hey, he was only 16 & some of those pitches were rather dodgy due to the weather conditions.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12
...... so I sent off an email to the Queensland Cricket Association advising them that in 2011/12 they should change the name of the team. Forget about the Bulls. As we now have both Forrest & Burns in the squad, they should call them the Bushfire Brigade.
Anyway, they replied & told me to never, ever, ever contact them again.
Bet they use it in their promos.
I have another one involving Cutting & Forrest. I might send that next week.

The Wozzie FLers and 2XIers managed to let GCS and Mark Higgs score tons against them last year ...not necessarily a sign of anything

So both Chris Gayle and David Warner have been signed by the Sydney thunderqunts.
They spent half their salary cap on the two of them.

At least this event isn't as crass as the IPL with a public meat market auction, where the wages are on display for all.
