Re: The Wimbledon Thread - anyone for tennis?
So, the Exhibition Year is underway, with ranking points stripped away for failing to invite Putin’s stooges.
Few non-Russian absentees other than through injury. Djokovic and Swiatek the big favourites but chances for new names to emerge. And not forgetting that Nadal’s still on course for the Grand Slam as it stands! A farewell for Serena, glorious or otherwise? The main home hopes, young and old, came through their opening tests yesterday.

Yarpsnoozepom Cameron Norrie looking good… Heather Watson who I assumed had retired also makes week 2.

Kyrgios continues to stink out the tournament.

Still in there though, putting out the consistently underwhelming Tsitsipas in a match where either or both could have been defaulted!lardbucket wrote:Kyrgios continues to stink out the tournament.
One of three Aussies in the last 16 of the men’s draw, all in the same half. Looks a very weak field in both singles tournaments due to injury, illness and lack of genuine emerging stars though. Only misfortune can prevent a Nadal-Djokovic final, with a combined age of 71, and the women’s title is anyone’s guess.

What a pair of tarts Kyrgios and Tsillypas were in their match.
Does Kyrgios's management urge him to carry on like he does (in-match and post-match) or is he genuinely just a qunt?
I note a very ironic event during US-based match commentary. John McEnroe (of all people) criticising Kyrgios for his court behaviour. LOL.

He doesn't have management - it's all him.
The irony is, he's probably the biggest box office draw in tennis at the moment.

Wimbledon organisers fined by the WTA for banning Russian players.
I think the All England Club’s best course of action would be to give the Saudis a call and threaten a breakaway series.

If Kyrgios, Nadal, and Djokovic all make the last 4, you can only hope that a non-flog is the 4th contender. Any non-flogs left?

Don’t know enough about Norrie to judge yet, hopefully his first three years in Yarpland didn’t shape him too much

Kyrgios charged with assaulting his ex. Will face court in the ACT next month.
All I can tell is that it involved "grabbing".

Normal service resumed… he could probably give most players two sets head start.

As usual, when he's down Joker took a toilet break.
You'd think that with all his experience that he'd learn to have a wee before the match.

Got a bit on NK's opponent for tonight - the criminal charges can't be helping.

A Chilean in the last eight of Wimbledon? Did he evict the proverbial cows from the grass before taking to the court?JGK wrote:Got a bit on NK's opponent for tonight - the criminal charges can't be helping.
Kyrgios thrives on controversy, might fire him up even more, so either a straight sets win or a default loss for climbing up the chair and twatting the umpire

Re: The Wimbledon Thread - anyone for tennis?
An “injured” Nadal wins in five sets, what a surprise. Can Nick the Prick end his Grand Slam bid?
If he plays Djokovic in the final, will be quite a clash of time-outs. Maybe we’ll get the Ashes Final instead…

Meh, he may be a qunt but I still want him to win.
Pat Cash was a qunt but I was barracking for him to beat Lendl.
Possibly the only Aussie I might think twice about would be Tomic, but he's a peaheart and would never achieve that level of success.

Jabeur the Hutt makes it to the final… and could face the Russian-born Rybakina of Boratistan, which would be ironic…

Re: The Wimbledon Thread - anyone for tennis?
Is the news here in Aus correct that Nadal has defaulted due to his abdominal strain?
Looks to be the case with the headlines. This makes Kyrgios the Qunt the first Aussie since the Poo in 2003 to make the Final.
