Possibly a broken collar-bone. Looks like KP or FOHL will have to bat at 3 with Bopara coming in at 5 or 6 at Edgbaston. Worrying considering Swann has yet to bowl. Fortunate however that Bopara appears to have returned to form given his 178 against Leicestershire yesterday.

My wildcard pick would be Ben Stokes. Wont happen though.

Overall, when you weigh everything up, KP has only ever been an average fielder for England.

Broad & Swann hold the record for the highest partnership by 2 Notts players in a Trent Bridge Test. They didn't have much to beat as the previous record was 3 for the 8th wicket by the same pair against the Paksters last year. Evidently his dad & Tim Robinson didn't bat (or play) together in a Test at The Bridge.

He had an appalling record of drops when he first came into the side in the '05 Ashes series.

The highest same-county partnership for England at Trent Bridge is 161 for the 2nd wicket by Rev. David Sheppard and Ted Dexter (Sussex) against Pakistan in July 1962.

If we can restrict India's lead to under 100 we are still in with a shout.

At least he's bowling. No Tredwell at Edgbaston. Touch wood.

Tredwell is old news. Wont be picked again (touch wood). Monty is probably still the number two spinner, but Briggs can't be far behind.

Good last hour from the Indians. Swann has been buffet style; KP's drop has proven costly.

England'll be lucky to keep the lead under 100.

I expect the eight or so overs after tea will be the usual Strauss rubbish of buffet bowlers and easy runs in preparation for the new ball.

And how many drops since that first series? Hardly any, from memory.

He's been a safe pair of hands. Cocked one up today. Happens.

This is just about the worst I have seen Swann bowl for England. Even KP is out-bowling him.

Oh you've got to be sh!tting me. Just got back from a long drive and I get back just in time to see the ball after the hat trick. Never seen an England player get a hat trick live before either.

Gutted.

Well that was all very exciting.

And suck sh1t Harby although I dare say Erasmus' time as an international umpire is limited.
