Re: US Open Tennis 2011
As for Serena:
That was a disgrceful display. If the WTA had any (metaphorical) balls they'd ban her for a year - that kind of behaviour should not be tolerated.

Aye. Another example of how she thinks she's bigger than the game.
Maybe her arse is.

One of the reports I read said she was still on probation for her outburst in 2009.

Apparently the NYC crowd got very, very loudly behind Serena after the incident, but to Sam's credit, she just took them out of the equation with her monster forehands.

Australia have been whitewashed 3 times in test cricket, so it would seem you struggle to imagine supporting the team that you support.horace wrote:vilkrang wrote:Fair point Zat. I also don't know the feeling of losing 3 matches by an innings in a home ashes series. No Englishman does in fact. We can but hope, eh?
Glad Serena got beat anyway, made all the sweeter by her temper tantrum.
...struggle to imagine what it would be like to support a country that has twice been at the receiving end of whitewash series...
Best try to get your facts straight before a sledge, eh? Here, I'll even help you with it. This is what you should have written:
"Struggle to imagine what it would be like support a country that has twice been on the receiving end of 5-0 ashes defeats".
Not so hard is it? Change 2 words, add another, and then you have yourself a sledge that is factually accurate.
Let me know if you need any more help.

Australia have been whitewashed 3 times in test cricket
When was the last time & were you alive then?
Re: US Open Tennis 2011
I was born a couple of years later. I just found h's effort funny seeing as he has seen more whitewashes of his team than I have of mine (only got into cricket in the late 90s), but apparently struggles to imagine it.Big Dog wrote:Australia have been whitewashed 3 times in test cricket

Edit:
Oh, and England have been whitewashed waaaaaay more times. I can't even be arsed to count them up. My point wasn't that Australia have been whitewashed more often.

Re: US Open Tennis 2011
Williams had lost the first set 6-2 to Stosur and faced a break point in the opening game of the second when she unleashed a huge forehand which she greeted with a loud "c'mon".
But Stosur hadn't even reached the ball and Greek umpire Asderaki immediately penalised the three-time champion for "intentional hindrance".
The point was awarded to Stosur.
"Aren't you the one who screwed me over last time?" Williams bellowed at Asderaki, later admitting she may have confused the umpire with another blonde European, Sweden's Louise Engzell, who chaired her infamous meltdown when playing Kim Clijsters in the 2009 Open semis.
I guess all blonde headed YTs look the same

God almighty, just heard all of Serena's rant. She even played the race card when she called the umpire "a hater".
Ban the weak b!tch.

That's enough of that cricket talk. This is a thread about lesbians. Please stay on topic.

Naughty, naughty Serena. She is not the brightest, or the most sporting either.
Well done to the huge-gunned Aussie.

The joke appears too good for Rafa. Up a set and break in the second.

I first read that as "I don't know what to do about Djokovic - he just has a really punchable face."Hass wrote:I don't know what it is about Djokovic - he just has a really punchable face.
Thought you were going to do us all a favour for a minute.
Having said that, my hatred for Nadal exceeds my hatred for the joke, so although it pains me to say it, I still hope he wins this.

A $2K fine? For a woman who earned $900 000 as the loser of that final? Or for that matter who has earned (on court) just a shade under $2 MILLION dollars for the year to date?
Was there a special on week-old, limp lettuce leaves at the deli next door to WTA HQ?
Yet again, tennis shows it is pissweak.

This match has the highest quality of baseline tennis I have seen since the 2005 US open final between Federer and Agassi.
