Re: US Open Tennis 2011
It's mental the amount of breaks there has been in this match. Can't remember the last time there were this many breaks in a final.

Was there a special on week-old, limp lettuce leaves at the deli next door to WTA HQ?
Yet again, tennis shows it is pissweak.
so the WTA is really run by Modi these days?

God I miss the days when Federer was both the best player in the World and also the nicest guy on the tour.
The Joker is a right c*nt but unfortunately he's also the World's best player at the moment.

Now, no matter what you feel for Nadal don't you just feel dirty going for Djokovic?
I mean he wins a point and stands there like a demonic statue of a man suffering from constipation. It's like he's trying to emit lasers from his eyes and gets frustrated when they don't come out. Meanwhile, Rafa stands there meekly with those doe eyes looking like a cute little puppy...

I will happily chip in if we wanted to arrange someone to punch Joker in the face. But only as long as he punches his little sh!t of a little brother as well.
Still, fair dos to Joker - 3 slams in a year is brilliant even if Fed should have beaten him here.

Puts Andy Murray's credentials into perspective. Joker, Rafa, and Federer are streets ahead of the overrated Scot.

What - a fit wealthy young woman who will let you sleep with other chicks so long as she can join in?
NSR mate. Though I googled her sexuality and it seems pretty much the prevailing view that she's seriously batting for the other team. One openly gay player (an Aussie I think) outed her. There goes the Cartier contract.
As for Serena. Forget the WTA sanction, that's twice she's done something you would be fronting the beak for if done off court. They could've at least fined her the half mil bonus she got.

Well done to Novak.
Has a win/loss record of 64/2 this year. Has defeated Nadal in 6/6 finals this years, with 2 wins coming in successive slams at Wimbledon and US Open, has won 10/12 majors he participated in this year.

First time since '03 that Federer failed to win a single slam in a calender year. Will he retire now or wait till next year's Wimbledon to announce his retirement from the game?

Djokovic and Nadal are outstanding players. You should be enjoying a golden period of men's tennis, not blibbering over pathetic irrelevances.
Boo hoo, he bounces the ball too much, boo hoo hoo, he's like Hitler. Boo hoo hoo, I don't like his face, boo hoo he's like Stalin.
Get a f*cking grip.

Yeah, I took a risk. I went for irrelevances. Feels like it should be irrelevancies but I don't think I care.

Well to be honest, I don't think his game has fallen that much. I think it's just a case of Nadal and the Joker catching up, and now surpassing him. Federer was great when he could get by through his sheer talent, wiping players off the court before they knew what had hit them, without having his mental strength tested. Now that a couple of players are stepping up and challenging him, it's perhaps being shown that mentally he isn't fantastic when faced with a challenge.

Re: US Open Tennis 2011
Djokovic was pretty much his equal for the previous 3 years. They were fighting out the third and fourth places in the rankings while Federer and Nadal were dominating.Henry wrote:Puts Andy Murray's credentials into perspective. Joker, Rafa, and Federer are streets ahead of the overrated Scot.
If anything, Djokovic's remarkable year should give Murray some belief that he can take a step up as well. He's got to play more aggressively against the big three though if he wants to beat them in Grand Slams, he can't beat them by just waiting for them to make mistakes like he can against everyone else on the circuit. The odds are perhaps starting to drift against him winning one in his career now though, there's not many first time winners beyond their mid 20s so a couple more years and it will become very unlikely.
At least we've got some promising youngsters in both the men's and women's game now though. Three of the four boys' semi-finalists at the US Open, and another who was runner-up at Wimbledon. I know many junior champions sink without trace but there must be a decent chance of at least one of them making it at senior level?
