I also have relatives like that.

Ironically enough I don't either. I never raised my gender but revealed it when someone correctly guessed it. I've never made a deal of being a born and bred Victorian either but most other people here routinely seen to allude to someone's state, national or international identity with attendant stereotyping. I just came here to discuss cricket, though have found the place is not without its layer of agendas, forum jokes and sobriquets.

Um, wouldn't national cover international in this context?

You could be an Aussie national with international allegiances, i.e. an Indian Aussie barracking for an international team.

Anyway Brass Monkey the point is I don't go in for all this point scoring and identity rubbishing et cetera and as far as I've been concerned, gender has been irrelevant; it's others who make a big deal about it.

Couldn't agree more Red, overall.

Gabba Dan could
Doubtless....and the Gabster could easily fill Red's place in that sentence.
I have no problem with 'idle whimsy' but all the manufactured mystery around Red reminds me of the Monty Python 'Two Sheds Jackson' sketch. To use an irritating Gen Y-ism, I'm over it, it's all idle-whimsyed out.

Knowing a bit about a persons background allows you to work out the validity of their arguments on cricket and whether what they are posting is their actual opinion or just some cheap trolling attempt ...and whether their actual opinion is worth a pinch of goats excrement

Heard Siddle on radio before. He described the pitch as a bit like the ones in Sri Lanka, possibly a third day pitch, very different from the Cape Town strip the last time we visited.

Where's Red with this story?
Graeme Smith say Australia are better prepared
Suppose there's nothing negative to say about SA maligning themselves.
