Cold Chisel: Highly revered by many Australians. Have had several goes and still don't see what the deal is. Jimmy Barnes is a good vocalist in terms of his octave range however other than one or two of CC's songs the rest all seem to be mostly noise delivered over a wide octave range.

Oasis.....hugely overrated. Just a pub band fronted by two of the most obnoxious brothers in rock music.

I've never understood why Coldplay are trashed. 'Parachutes' was an intriguing and beautiful album, and the critics raved. It seems that just because they became commercially popular with 'a Rush of blood to the head' in 2002, it became fashionable among 'musos' to trash their music. The same musos who probably loved Parachutes when it first came out in 2000 and wasn't immediately a commercial success. Like it was cooler because it was unknown and a bit underground.

They remain one of the most talented British bands of the last 20 years, despite the trendy musos feeling 'betrayed' that they became extremely popular.

Great studio band but they are crap live.

Cheers taips. I'm not afraid to say I like Nickelback, even though I'll be howled down by a couple of Billy Joel loving mates (FFS), and headbanger RD. And a Canadian band would find it heinous being called "seppo".

And lardy and I had a discussion about Coldplay, another band I like. Needless to say, he feels they are no Little Feet.

Lardy attempted to "educate" me in real music on a pissy Friday night in Hobart, as he proudly showed me the 7,700 songs he had on his Macbook. I think we listened to bits of about 5000 of them. [awaits lardy's indignant response ]

I think we worked out that other than a few Beatles songs, the only song we had in common on our respective mp3 playlists was Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.
