Aye, Hodge's 203* V SAf is the one, I'd reckon.tricycle wrote:Hodge scored a 200, didn't he?Allan D wrote:Highest score by a player making his first Test appearance at the WACA?

His cement feet were outdone by the drossness of the wicket and the Yarpie bowlers.lardbucket wrote:tricycle wrote:Hodge scored a 200, didn't he?Allan D wrote:Highest score by a player making his first Test appearance at the WACA?
That couldn't really have happened

So, that's a lead of 85 at lunch on day 2, with 7 wickets in hand. Hopefully we might bat until late tomorrow, leaving ourselves just over two days to bowl India out.

Yes indeed it is, in December '05. Of course FTB holds the ground record with 380 against the Zimbots in October '03. FTB made 0 on his first appearance here however.

Yeah, there's still a Test match win to be fought for here. A quick surrender and a SRT batfest in I2 could see Aus chasing too many on a cracked pitch.
Hopefully TSC, Pup and Paris can grind out another 250 or more and completely demoralise the bannies.

No early declarations here I hope ... 2-0 up, plenty of time, no need to open the series up, try to grind the opposition into the dust if at all possible.

Excellent pace by this Yadav fellow! Very fine talent.
i am not sure why they are wasting time by playing the other guy who bowls at 125-130 KPH! Should have played the left arm spinner

Ball is still darting around a bit. The quality of TSC and Moo's batting disguised the fact very well.

A combination of circumstances could secure the Bannies an improbable victory but Oz has the advantage of the Bannies failing to field a spinner which should make batting in the 4th innings considerably easier. Also even a mediocre batting performance from here on should still see Oz with a 200 lead on 1st innings which should, by any account, be a winning margin.

Ishant
Yadav
Maybe for the next Test in Adelaide ... although I'm not even sure Sehwag and Dhoni have a future in Tests.

Praveen Kumar is a good 120+ bowler. Vinay is a bit of a clueless trundler who wouldn't have been in the squad if Aaron had been fit. Ashwin or Ojha, either's better than Vinay.PlanetPakistan wrote:Excellent pace by this Yadav fellow! Very fine talent.

Praveen can swing the ball a bit but surely Yadav will soon be their # 1 bowler. I don't really like Zaheer, not because he doesn't bowl fast but because he is NOT a gutsy cricketer.

Varun Aaron, India's other fast bowler. Bowls around the same pace as Yadav but not as good yet. Zaheer's still way more than a decent bowler and by far the best, no question of dropping him (regardless of fielding or batting).PlanetPakistan wrote:Who is Aaron?tricycle wrote:Praveen Kumar is a good 120+ bowler. Zaheer's batting certainly smacks of an unwillingness to put his body on the line. The square leg umpire must have felt crowded a few times during Zaheer's brief innings yesterday ... lots of retreating and flailing.

Certainly he gives the bowlers a good look at all 3 stumps, and he does not hold back with the swinging blade ...

Zaheer was doing his bit to help Koo dope his statistics and he still couldn't get him.

What's with the fawning, mincing 'Davey Warner' appellation adopted by Mark Nicholas and (as far as I can tell) nobody else at all?

India has now been outscored by a single opposition batsman in successive Tests.
