Lets all laugh at Liverpool. I know there are some United and City fans who will be agonising over next weekend, but lets all as a collective enjoy Liverpool's utter shiteness.
Ha.
Haha.
There are Liverpool fans everywhere. They just don't admit to it.

I have an idea that a Premiership table based on games played since Ist Jan would show only Wolves below Liverpool - that's how shoite Liverpool are. But of course they've won the Carling Cup and they're through to the FA Cup final, so that's alright then.

You know Liverpool are shite when Steve McMahon can't defend the team.

Defensively, they're shocking. Without Vidic, only an ageing, underpowered Ferdinand has any kind of caliber in the entire back five.
And they don't have a single ball-winning, defensive-minded midfielder in the squad.
Fellaini worked them over today. They couldn't handle him.
Aye, I agree. Although they're pretty strong on the counter-attack and it's even more difficult at OT to contain Valencia, Nani and Da Silva... which they certainly didn't do... you're on about United's defending, but what about Everton's? Abysmal.. Simply cannot believe they're 7th. Distin was attrocious, he has absolutely no idea at left-back and Jagielka was worryingly slow, they left Heitinga and Hibbert with it all to do and in the end Heitinga buckled. It was one of the most disorganised defensive performances I've seen this season. They were lucky to 'escape' with just the four goals.

Exactly what I was thinking. TBH, I loved that result more than I love anything Premiership.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
I've loved all 3 results today to be honest. I was brought up to support two teams, my own (Forest) and anyone playing against United, plus a mate of mine has been giving it all that on Facebook in recent weeks saying how they are at the top and where they belong etc. Barely a day has gone by without him muttering some shite so at least today I can give him some shit, before United inevitably win the title either next week or the week after.Brass Monkey wrote:vilkrang wrote:Roy Hodgson must be pissing himself.

Aye, I just don't fancy City. I reckon that, apart from the odd result, they shit on the shit teams and come somewhat unstuck against the better teams... reckon they'll drop points versus either MoanU or Newcastle as Dello said. I suppose the next match is in their favour, it's at home, United are brittle at the back and City have some supreme attacking talent. But there's something in the back of the mind saying 'choke!'

In "defence" of Distin, he's no more a left back than Peter Crouch is a right winger. Yes, he's left footed. But that's about all he's got going for him in a position where pace and agility take precedent over bulk and aerial ability. As a centre back, he's not bad. Not that bad, anyway.
I think if we go back to the beginning of this thread (not that I can be arsed) I pretty much declared everyone in the PL had abandoned defending for this term, such was the rampant ineptitude throughout the early season showings.
Man City are the only side who can defend. And that's basically just Kompany on his own. Lescott and Clichy are f*cking useless. Richards has his moments.

Terry Connor. Poor bloke, he's such a non-entity that no-one even knows his name.
Remember it - it'll be a pub quiz answer in years to come.

Yep, they've been choking since Christmas and I can't see it stopping next week.Brass Monkey wrote:Aye, I just don't fancy City. Oh yeah, I don't mind Distin as a centre half, sort of why I mentioned the left-back thing... totally lost is the phrase that comes to mind, against Valencia he was in his own house, but was so lost he didn't even know.
But let us please not go on about a Frenchman too much, he's immaterial - what about Jagielka? I mean, yeah he was positionally there or thereabouts but he was more cumbersome and slow than ever... these people (Lescott too) aren't that far away from an England Euro Champs side... it's a frightful thought.

"England Euro Champs side" is a frightful thought in itself.

Aye, as an almost neutral, it must be said that it has kept the season alive, next Monday is a massive match. I'll actually make a point of watching it rather than just the usual 'meh stick on'.

Aye, although your man Rodney is shaping up reasonably.

We have to make it out of the group stage for that bet to still be on BTW.Brass Monkey wrote:vilkrang wrote:"England Euro Champs side" is a frightful thought in itself.

What was again? 3 assists and/or goals?
Genuinely can't remember and can't be arsed to dig it up.

Something along those lines, yeah. We'll find it if he gets one

Was deffo more than one. Pretty sure it was at least 3, I think I could live with 3, 4 would be pushing it though.Brass Monkey wrote:Something along those lines, yeah. We'll find it if he gets one

Kyle Walker wins PFA Young Player of the Year... after a possible betting scam in which the rank outsider in a list that contained Sergio Aguero, Gareth Bale, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge and Alex Ox mysteriously came in from 33/1 to 5/6 favourite in a short space of time after a series of large bets were placed on him , causing most bookies to close the market at the all round fishiness of it.
RVP won the grown up Player of the Year, less controversially.

Jagielka was never good. He had an eye catching finish to one season with Everton a few years back in which he always seemed to be making at least one cracking, last-ditch tackle per game in the highlights - but most of those attacking situations were caused by his hopeless positioning: he couldn't help but be the only firefighter on the scene, as he was standing ten yards behind the rest of the defence, playing everyone onside.
And then he did his cruciate. Has been so poor since that Arsenal even tried to sign him. Barely gets a start for Everton these days.

First, it was won by a penalty that should never have been awarded after a blatant dive.
And the second, the FFA managed to give the wrong player the man of the match award. So they stripped it from the bloke it was given to and re-awarded it.
My boss is convinced that wasn't cheating. But he is a Billy and was born in Wales. Unfortunately it is performance review day

4-4, that's a spectacular game in anyone's language. Watched the Foxy highlights. Jeez, for a top team, the Scum have a very leaky defence, particularly in the box.
