Silly Australian commentators, clearly the second El Clasico is Pailan Arrows vs Shillong Lajong.

A cople of moments of pure gold from the A-League today. (Please bear in mind this is the league that took a licence off a team owner who is now setting up his own ruling body for football because he's dissatisfied with the existing body's organisational skills. It's also the same league where another team owner is handing back a licence because he reckons the FFA, well, let's just say COARIAB and leave it at that...)
First, it was won by a penalty that should never have been awarded after a blatant dive.
And the second, the FFA managed to give the wrong player the man of the match award. So they stripped it from the bloke it was given to and re-awarded it.

Messi is the best technical player in the world, but you'd be mad to pick him ahead of Ronaldo in any other team bar Barcelona. Ronaldo is an absolute beast. He is the perfect balance between footballing talent and athletic ability. Of course, if he was playing for Barca and Messi for Real, Ronaldo would already be considered the best player in the world.

Astonishing match at Old Trafford, couldn't see a way back for Everton, it's 4-4 and end-to-end with 2 mins to go.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
Now watch City f*ck it up against bottom of the table Wolves.

Complete weirdness in the Genoa Siena match, the crowd's like a Soviet era mentalist gang and the players are stuck in the middle of the pitch. Genoa are losing 4 0 at home.
They're asking the players to hand over their strips to the real Genoa, the fans

Haven't checked the validity of the statistics, but I read somewhere that, without Ronaldo's goals and assists, Real would still be first in La Liga. Without Messi's, Barcelona would be sixth.
What does it all mean? I don't know - just thought it was interesting. Everyone touches themselves inappropriately over "the Barcelona way", but without Messi (and in games where he's been kept quiet) is it really that amazing?
Some might say monopolising 80% of the possession and still losing is an incredibly inefficient way of playing.

Italy's basically a third world country with nice food.

And that's why teams should attack United more often, rather than consigning themselves to, at best, a backs-against-the-wall draw.
Defensively, they're shocking. Without Vidic, only an ageing, underpowered Ferdinand has any kind of caliber in the entire back five.
And they don't have a single ball-winning, defensive-minded midfielder in the squad.
Fellaini worked them over today. They couldn't handle him.

Stoopid United are pissing the title away. City will obviously beat them in the relative current form. Happily I had $50 on City a couple of weeks ago to win the title at 15s.

I wonder if he'll be suspended for next year.
Anyway, it's things like that that will mean that soccer is only ever the poor cousin of Australian football codes.

and the match restarts. Pointless to watch now, Genoan softcocks should've sent in their ultras to smash the stadium to bits.

Reading facebook I discover that one of my friends was officiating in the final ...and luckily for him he didnt make the shit call on the penalty ...
BTW does someone taking a picture of their TV while a person appears on it count as it being a picture of the person?

Wolves relegated - no team has stank the Premiership out like Wolves since Direby County, but you have to feel sorry for Keith Connor - making him manager was the original hospital pass.

There aren't any Liverpool fans on this forum are there?
Lets all laugh at Liverpool. I know there are some United and City fans who will be agonising over next weekend, but lets all as a collective enjoy Liverpool's utter shiteness.
Ha.
