People have been saying that after every misdemeanour, though. And yet he's still playing at the top level. Football has no moral code. Not the measure of time, as a goal scored in the 95th minute has the same numeric value as one scored in the 1st.

And there's nothing jammy about winning a title on goal difference when the reason your goal difference is so superior to your rivals' is because you aggregated 7-1 against them in head to head matches over the course of the season.

So that's two measures at least.

Pity the following week in 1996 wasn't so good. I left a Grand Final party after Manly scored that try just before half time, to raucous boos from my mates. Nathan Brown tackled Slimbag Ridge, then rolled off him, Ridge got up and ran and the idiot ref called play on. He got beyond the quarter line and Manly scored from the next play. I said that'll do me. The AFL Granny was no better.
