I wouldn't spoiler you, skulls. After all we've been through...
Obviously I was referring to his accident at the start of the series. If he again managed to slice his arm open on a car door later in the series, the survivors would have to reassess what the real danger was - zombies or parked vehicles?

So2E07 - easy - Shane's barn turkey shoot.
- Spoiler:
- Lots of soap opera stuff before we cut to the chase and Shane breaks the locks to the barn door and the farm outsiders, lead by Shane, open fire on the walkers as they waddle moaning out of the barn. All are blown away before the final one appears - it is Sophia, and she's a walker. Rick steps up and blows her brains out.

Re: The Walking Dead
S02E08 - intense.
- Spoiler:
- Wow, didn't expect Rick to shoot Dave and Tony dead at the bar. Maybe Doc Hershel will pull himself together and realise that Rick is an asset.
Lori has crashed - a convenient abortion, perhaps? Also probably stops her confronting Shane as to whether Dale is right - that Shane shot Otis and left him as bait (which we know is true).
Poor old Carol and Daryl are feeling a bit damaged after their ordeals. Not sure what's wrong with Beth. My initial thoughts were that her "Mum" might have scratched her when Beth rolled her "corpse" over and it attacked her.
Exactly what is the mechanism for virus transmission? Saliva? Blood? Did I miss that earlier in the series. Obviously a lot of people have been bitten and NOT ripped to shreds by other walkers.

Wasn't there some indication when they were at the research place that they were all 'carriers' ?

Re: The Walking Dead
TWD wiki says...
"Zombie bites are not how the "infection" is spread. Instead, zombie bites and saliva cause infections that are 100% fatal. Characters have speculated, but cannot confirm, that whatever causes zombies to re-animate is some sort of virus that everyone in the world is technically already infected with but is only triggered by death. It is known, however, that upon death, it can take anytime between three minutes and eight hours for the corpse to reanimate.
Zombies out-number humans around 5,000 to 1."
So is starvation an issue for walkers? Apparently not...
"Besides eating humans, zombies have been shown eating the horse Rick used to reach Atlanta, rats in Atlanta`s sewers, a deer in the woods outside the original survivor camp, Hannah's dog (according to Andrew, the dog was mutilated by a zombie), a stray dog in the streets of Atlanta, chickens in Hershel's barn,

Why don't the struggling humans just break off a leg from each zombie? Food and immobilising the zombies. Clearly it's the way forward

Re: The Walking Dead
S02E09 - heavy stuff.
- Spoiler:
- Lori comes to in the car wreck to find a walker trying to get to her. She manages to fight it and another one off.
Lots of action back at the township with part of Dave and Tony's group showing up and getting into a gunfight with Rick, Glenn and Hershel. Our guys get on top and the other group makes a run for it, but not before one of them, Randall, falls and becomes impaled on an iron fence. Walkers are closing in but Rick can't bring himself to leave him, so he rips his leg off the iron bar just in time to avoid the walkers.
Shane sets out after realising Lori is missing from the farm, finds Lori but lies that Rick and the others are safely back at the farm. Lori is filthy when she finds out that Rick, Glenn and Hershel are yet to return. She angrily questions Shane and accuses him of deliberately shooting and leaving Otis for dead.
The boys roar back to the farm with the badly injured Randall. Shane is pissed off that they have brought him, but Hershel gives him a spray, telling him to pull his head in. Shane simmers, with seemingly only Andrea on board with his theory that Rick will lead them to disaster.
Glenn has an awkward conversation with Maggie, telling her that her "love" for him made him freeze under pressure at the town. He says he can't let the team down like that again, leaving Maggie upset. Lori spills everything to Rick, to the extent she seems to be suggesting that Rick kill Shane to protect her.

Re: The Walking Dead
S02E10 - Action-packed
- Spoiler:
- Rick and Shane head 18 miles out to release Randall. Before they reach their destination, Rick tell Shane the way of the world according to him. Shane WILL live by Rick's rules or leave. Lori is HIS wife, Carl is HIS son, and the baby is HIS baby. They find a depot up the road that turns out to be crawling with walkers. After Rick and Shane go biffo to get some testosterone out of their systems, with Rick winning, Shane throws a wrench through a window that stirs up a hornet's nest of walkers. They fight 'em off with Randall holding his own. But they blindfold him again and stuff him in the boot. At least they got to stock up on fuel and supplies.
Back at the farm nobody is getting on with Andrea (who is basically Shane with tits), and Maggie is trying to talk some sense into a suicidal little sister Beth. Andrea gives Maggie a breather but she leaves Beth to her own devices. Beth cuts her wrists but does a half-arsed job and scares the shit out of herself. Lori and Maggie are filthy but Andrea rationalises that Beth didn't really want to die or she would've cut herself deeper.
Turns out Randall knows Maggie from school so if they release him he and others will know the way back to the farm. Rick is gonna sleep on whether he puts a bullet in Randall's head.

Re: The Walking Dead
S02E11 - Slow except for the last 5 minutes.
- Spoiler:
- The ep revolved around the moral dilemma of whether to execute Randall or not. Dale was a lone wolf in a quest to retain the groups humanity. In the end, the decision is made and Rick will shoot Randall in the barn, but just as he is to do it, Carl walks in and says do it. Rick is spooked and can't pull the trigger. Randall lives to beg another day.
Earlier Carl has teased a walker he'd found stuck in the mud by the creek. While out walking Dale comes across a steer that's been attacked. He turns to be face-to-face with the same walker that Carl had teased. The walker drops him and rips him open. Dr. Herschel can't save him, so Daryl puts Dale out of his misery. Carl knows what he has done.

Re: The Walking Dead
S02E12 - man, oh, man, what an ep!!
- Spoiler:
- Ep was moving along slowly with the 14 person remaining farm group preparing to set up Fortress Rick and Hershel, and Rick and Daryl about to head out and drop off Randall after Rick decides to spare his life. Shane snaps and while he can't bring himself to shoot Randall in the barn, he releases him and then breaks his neck in the woods. In a poorly executed cover-up, Shane tries to convince the others that Randall jumped him, and had escaped. Rick and Daryl are immediately skeptical.
At dusk, Shane leads Rick, Daryl and Glenn out to hunt down Randall. Daryl and Glenn go in one direction, Rick and Shane in another. Daryl's tracking skills quickly determine that there are tandem tracks that lead to a scene of a scuffle. They are jumped by walker Randall, but Glenn whacks a scythe in his forehead and drops him. Daryl can't find any bite on Randall and confirms he died of a broken neck. Daryl and Glenn are confused as hell.
Meanwhile, Shane had lead Rick out into an open field. Rick quickly realises what is going on and asks Shane "is this where you planned to do it?" i.e. kill him. Shane confirms that his plan is to say that Randall shot Rick and then Shane killed Randall. Rick skillfully talks his way close to Shane with his gun handle offered to his former best friend, saying he is gonna have to murder an unarmed man. Then Rick gets close enough to swiftly turn Shane's gun on himself. Shane goes down with blood spurting from his mouth. Rick is filthy that it had to come to this, and angrily screams as much at the dead Shane. But we see flashes of zombiness in Shane's mind. He is turning.
Carl appears and is stunned at the scene of his father standing over a dead Shane. He appears to aim Daryl's pistol at his approaching, beseeching father, but then Shane silently stands as a walker and quickly moves at Rick from behind. Carl lets rip with a shot that whizzes over Rick's left shoulder and hits walker Shane in the forehead.
So it appears confirmed that death sets off an apparently dormant zombie virus that humans are already carrying. This was hinted at with the 2 walker guards at the depot not showing any bite marks, and now both Randall and Shane turning without being bitten.
Lots of walkers have stirred on the outskirts of the farm.
Awesome stuff.

Re: The Walking Dead
S02E13 - killer Finale.
- Spoiler:
- Man, action from go to whoa. Basically, Carl's shot to save his father from new walker Shane attracted a major horde of walkers. The 14 less Shane fights gallantly against the wall of walkers, uses a shitload of ammo but loses Jimmy and Patricia to walkers, and Andrea is separated from the fleeing farm group.
After much gnashing of teeth, the group eventually meet up on the highway at Sophia's spot. The group now consists of Rick, Lori, Carl, Glenn, Daryl, Carol, T-Dog, Hershel, Maggie and Beth. They head off down the highway.
Andrea races through the woods but is running out of ammo against the endless oncoming trail of zombies. She puts a knife through the skull of a walker but he falls on her, pinning her. She is apparently done for, before a mysterious figure in a hood (with two armless zombies on chains in tow) slices the head off the walker that's about to attack her, saving her.
Rick's vehicle runs out of fuel so the 10 stop to take stock. There is much disagreement within the group on what to do. Rick, in a quiet moment, tells Lori that he killed Shane in self-defence, and that Carl shot walker Shane and saved his life. Lori freaks out.
The group is muttering amongst themselves over a fire, with Hershel and Daryl seeming to be Rick's only backers at the moment. Rick (rightly) spits the dummy. He confirms that Jenner back at the CDC had told him that he believed that all humans carry the zombie virus, and spews that he has done all he can for the group, including killing his best friend, and that he didn't ask for this, and if they can do better, then GTFO and do it. After lots of sheepish looks from the group Rick says "right, this is no longer a democracy", it's his way or they can fark off.
The camera pans up and into the distance, and we see a large prison complex. I am not a TWD comic follower, but I have had a look at the S3 trailer, so I know what this place is, and some of the other juicy stuff to come. S3 looks immense. And the good news is that S3 will be 16 episodes long.

I haven't bothered with the trailer, but I do know the prison part of the story is what gets the comic book fans moist, introducing us to some major new players - one of whom Andrea has just had the pleasure of meeting.
But it's also the point in the tale where "realism" blurs with cartoonism (if that's a thing). A hooded Jedi-like woman who keeps two armless zombies as obedient slaves? Okie dokie...

S03E01 - frikkin grouse. Cracking start to S3.
- Spoiler:
- Rick and the other survivors from the farm have made it through winter and happen upon a prison crawling with zombies. After lots of choice decapitations and eye-skewerings, the group secures the outer part of the compound. They are able to restock their dwindling ammo.
Part of the group get jumped by zombies as they attempt to explore the inner prison. Hershel steps over what he thinks is a dead zombie but it bites him on the lower leg. Rick thinks quickly and chops his leg off to save him, taking half a dozen swings to get through poor old Hershel's fetlock. Gruesome stuff.
Lori, now near due, thinks the baby is dead and is worried that it'll turn inside her (now how grouse a scene would that be - a bit Alien?). Carol seems to be getting the hots for Daryl, young Carl is getting sweet on young Beth, and Lori is convinced both her son and husband hate her (well, you did cold shoulder poor Rick when he admitted killing Shane).
We meet Michonne (with her two armless, jawless zombies in chained tow) who saved Andrea at the end of last season. Andrea has struggled through winter and is very ill.

- Bummer about Hershel. I imagine they'll keep him alive just about long enough to deliver Shane Jr before infection takes over and he goes a little bitey. Other survivors in the prison? That was a nice sting in the tail.
I love how American TV is petrified of sex and salty language, but ultra violence is tickety boo with a cherry on top. Because we'd all go "gosh - that's a weird one" if we tore off a person's riot helmet and their face and skin came off with it...
Daryl aint gonna sleep in no cage, fool.
