Jeez, in my day, the old man would've just chucked the Gregory's/UBD/Melway at me and said "find it yerself".

Re: The Walking Dead
S03E05 - Say The Word. Rick can't deal.
- Spoiler:
- Daryl and Maggie head out to get formula for the baby, while Rick has a meltdown and charges back into the prison with an axe, and goes on a cleansing zombie hack-fest. Glenn gets to digging some graves for Lori, T-Dog and Carol (?), then Axel and Oscar lend a hand. I checked the last ep, and we definitely don't see Carol go down. I can only assume she is still alive within the prison? Yes or no, people?
Back in Woodbury, Michonne is deeply suspicious of the Governor. She breaks into his office to get her katana back, and finds reference to a Penny in a diary. She hears a zombie in an adjoining room and realises that the Guv is caring for his zombified daughter, Penny. After the Guv, Merle and Milton (Woodbury's scientist) enter, she slips out the back and happens upon a stash of captive walkers. She releases them and hacks 'em all down. She gets captured in the process. The Guv gives her a stern talking too, but she grabs her sword in a blink and holds it to his throat. The Guv tattles to Andrea, but Michonne gives her an ultimatum - come with me or stay. Andrea stays and Michonne leaves.
Andrea gets an insight into the Guv's thinking when he hosts an entertainment night for the townsfolk. It is a staged UFC type fight between Merle and Brownie, ringed by chained walkers. Milton and Merle collect walkers, de-tooth them and use them for this entertainment. Andrea is quite horrified, and realises Michonne was right - the Guv is a sicko.
Glenn goes searching for Rick in the prison and gets pinned to the wall by a crazy Rick for his trouble. Glenn leaves Rick to his own insanity.
Daryl and Maggie return with grub for the bub. Daryl has great delight in feeding the little tike. Ep ends with Rick being woken out of a stupor by a ringing phone. He answers it.

- Spoiler:
- There was some silliness on display in the last episode - the group seemed to have given up on Carol pretty easily, assuming she was a goner simply as a result of finding her headscarf. They searched for Sofia for about eight episodes...
Then there's the baby formula run. Apparently, at no point in the last nine months did the group ever consider the possibility of Lori having her baby and that the said child would require some stuff to survive, so they'd better stock up. Not to worry, a quick trip into town and they find exactly what they're after in a well stocked nursery. That was lucky. They were contemplating eating dog food a few episodes back, but it turns out there's still shitloads of supplies available, if you just look for five minutes.
As for the phone call... (comic spoilers - don't read on if you don't want to know)
- Spoiler:
- I read an interview with Robert Kirkman last week, where he was reflecting on Lori's exit, and the interviewer asked about whether an element of the comic storyline which seemed to be a fan favourite was going to make an appearance in the show: Rick imagines a phone conversation with Lori.
Kirkman was non-committal, but I'd guess the chances of the person on the other end of the line being imaginary Lori is pretty high. Which might well fly in a comic, but I think when you start introducing dream sequences and such into TV drama that has so far played it straight, you're on the cusp of jumping the shark.
Re: The Walking Dead
S03E06 - Hounded. A bit stop/start, but gritty as all fark and more than enough action to get the adrenalin pumping.
- Spoiler:
- Ep starts with Merle and his team of Tim, Crowley and Gargulio tracking Michonne. They come across walker body parts, that spell "GO" in zombie arms and legs, and a zombie torso on its stomach - "BACK" which Gargulio deciphers. Merle has a chuckle and calls it a "biter-gram".
Michonne jumps them, takes Tim's head off, skewers Crowley and uses him as a shield as Merle fires away. He wounds her in the leg. They track her further and she jumps them again as walkers approach. She is knocked down but kicks Merle in the face, stunning him, allowing walkers to crawl all over him, but Gargulio hacks them off. On the ground Michonne hacks open an approaching zombie and his guts spill all over her. By the time Merle gets to his feet, she is gone.
Merle thinks she's done for and wants to return to Woodbury with some lies, but young Gargulio won't have it. So Merle shoots him.
Some slow shit in Woodbury, where Andrea predictably jumps the Guv's bones, after she's called to the Principal's office for jumping the wall to kill a walker, after some lame arrow shots by the town's so-called gun archer.
The phone call is all in Rick's head (as alluded to be Dello). Hershel realises what's going on so gives him space. On the 3rd call Rick realises the caller is Lori, who tells him to take care of Carl and the baby, but the mini mental breakdown allows him to cleanse his mind of grief at the loss of his wife.
Wounded Michonne staggers to a small village and sees Glen and Maggie looking for supplies, but so does Merle. Merle grabs Maggie and makes Glen drive them back to Woodbury. I so wanted Michonne to shuffle up and cleave Merle's head.
After telling Carl about how his mother died (smoking in bed, house burnt down), Daryl finds a barely-alive Carol. They had earlier killed a walker and found Carol's knife in its neck. Rick bonds with his new baby, then sees something in the distance. He walks to the fence where, amongst the walkers, is Michonne. The zombie guts all over her disguise her from the monsters.

Re: The Walking Dead
S03E07 - When the Dead Come Knocking. Slowish but building to a big mid-season cliffhanger.
- Spoiler:
- Merle interrogates Glen by beating him to a pulp then releasing a walker in his locked cell. Glen manages to smash his way out the chair he's duct-taped to and takes out the biter. The Guv and crew are impressed with his resolve so the Guv turns to Maggie. He makes her strip, terrifying her that she is about to be raped, but he takes her into Glen's room and points a gun at Glen's head. She cracks, telling the Woodbury crew that they are a group of 10 holed up in the prison. The Guv is impressed that they managed to clear out the overrun prison, something Merle said couldn't be done. The Guv sees some value in the group.
Back at the prison Rick takes in Michonne and Hershel patches her up. After some initial shit on the liver, she tells them about Woodbury and Glen and Maggie being taken. There is emotional reunion between Rick and Carol. Rick and Carl name the baby Judith after Carl's 3rd Grade teacher.
The group decide to go check out Woodbury with a detail including Rick, Oscar, Daryl and Michonne. They stop a mile from Woodbury and head cross country to avoid patrols. They are surrounded by walkers and take refuge in a shack, but there is a jumpy dude in there. Michonne has no choice but to hack him down as he goes for the door. Rick checks the back door then uses the fresh body as bait out the front door so they can escape out the back. Ep ends with them eyeing off the front wall of Woodbury.
The other development is in Woodbury where Milton is working on trying to bring newly dead people back to human life rather than having them turn. After some initial encouraging results the Guv lets Andrea oversea an experiment, but Mr Coleman, who dies of prostate cancer, doesn't follow the trained routine of questions and tries to bite Milton. Andrea puts a knife through the top of his skull. Clearly this work is aimed at the Guv's zombie daughter.

Re: The Walking Dead
S03E08 - Made to Suffer. Action packed.
- Spoiler:
- A stray group escaping zombies come across the back fence to the prison, but not before one of their party is bitten. They know they should leave her but can't bring themselves to do it.
Back in Woodbury the Guv tries in vane to get some semblence of human response out of his walker daughter Patsy but has to chain her back up. Glen tears apart the arm of the zombie Merle turned on him and makes a bone blade for Maggie. They jump Merle and the boys but are overcome and about to get executed when Rick and crew storm in and save them. During a fierce gun battle in the Woodbury main street, they escape but lose track of Michonne (who has made her way to the Guv's room), Oscar gets shot and Daryl is lost in the flash-gang smoke.
Back at the Prison Carl investigates screaming and finds the stray group fighting off walkers in the boiler room. He drops a couple of walkers and urges the group to follow him, before locking them in a safe block. Initially they aren't happy but calm down. They have a dead group member who is about to turn to deal with.
Back in the Guv's room Michonne happens across the room full of heads and Patsy. Initially thinking she's a captive human girl, she unhoods her and almost gets bitten. She's just about to behead her when the Guv enters and begs her to spare his little girl. With a quizzical look Michonne drives her katana through Patsy's head. This sets off a raging fight between the Guv and Michonne which ends when Michonne drives a shard of glass into the Guv's right eye. She's about to cut him in half when she is confronted with a pistol-wielding Andrea . They eye each other off before Michonne backs out of the room.
Ep ends with eye-patched Guv apologising to the townspeople for not keeping them safe and telling them that Merle lead the terrorists to the town. They then unhood Daryl and it looks like the brothers will be pitted against each other in a fight to the death - the mid-season cliffhanger.
One humorous moment was when Carol gave Axel a scalding for getting the hots for young Beth. Axel argues that he's been in a long time, and had ruled Carol out as a lesbian, which raises a chuckle from Carol.

Re: The Walking Dead
A US man has admitted to shooting his girlfriend in the back after the
pair had a heated argument over the zombie apocalypse TV show, 'The
Walking Dead'.
Jared Gurman, a 26-year-old from New York, shot his girlfriend Jessica Gelderman, 27, early on Monday morning.
He fired a round into her back with a rifle, piercing her lung and diaphragm and shattering her ribs.
Ms Gelderman survived the shooting but was left with serious injuries.
Detective
Raymond Cote told NBC that Gurman was arguing with his girlfriend of
three and a half years over whether the world could be overrun by
zombies.
"I just know that he felt very adamant that there could
be some type of military mishap that would result in some sort of virus
or something being released that could cause terrible things to
happen," Detective Cote said.
But Ms Gelderman told her boyfriend the idea was absurd.
"She felt that it was ridiculous," Detective Cote said.
Police said the argument escalated when Ms Gelderman decided not to spend the night with Gurman and left his home.
The couple continued fight over text messages and Ms Gelderman then went back to his house to try and calm him down.
Gurman told police he was sitting on the stairs holding a rifle when Ms Gelderman arrived.
"She tried to defuse the situation and calm him down and told him, 'Let's just go to bed,'" Detective Cote said.
"She
was walking up the stairs when Gurman raised the rifle, pointed it at
her and fired one round into her back, causing serious injury."
Gurman's
attorney, Edward Lieberman entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his
client and said he unintentionally shot his girlfriend.
"The rifle went off accidentally."
Gurman later admitted that the shooting was not an accident.
The
show, which airs on the AMC network in the US, is about a man who wakes
from a coma to find the world has been taken over by zombies.
