Great stuff from Sam-uels/my. Really really good fight and some great shots (well from Samuels, anyway).
Sack Bresnan. I've had my arse-fun with him, but he's a gishlord.
As for Strauss.... it's very, very, very, very lucky he's back in the runs because his woefully negative captaincy and his pretty shit slip catching is 'harmful' to England. Harmful.

This was NEVER a 130 - 6 deck.
Never.
So ... having the WI's at 130 - 6 was, for a start, a huge bonus.
HTF can you blame Strauss for "negative" captaincy is a mystery ....
Try blaming Bresnan who was the one bowler who bowled utter tripe/shite/crap ... the missed chances and thereafter a tired attack in the afternoon's session in 28C heat with both batsmen set on a flat track.
Explain this - HTF can you expect the captain to continue "attacking" with 11 men labouring in the heat ...and the batsmen set ... where's the negativity in controlling a situation which, at one stage, seemed to be running away ... and how do you "counter" Sammy's exuberant and T20 style stroke play..... and Samuels' obduracy?
fair play .... full marks to the 2 WIndians .. they stuck it out and reaped the benefits later in the day.
Dunno which game you guys are seeing - but Sky seem overly content with their praise of Strauss's field placings and bowling changes ...
Negative captaincy?!! .... You gorra have a larf, shirley.
Never.

"Controlling a situation"? WI were 150-0 in the final session - going at more than 4.5 an over.
I must've missed all the praise Sky were giving Strauss for not having a third slip in for Anderson, having thrown him the new ball and watched successive deliveries edged through the vacant third slip area at catchable height. Is there such a thing as rose-tinted ears?
"How can anyone expect the captain to continue attacking when a side is 130-6 after only 55 overs?" What? He tried to limp to the new ball from 25 overs out. How can anyone possibly defend such negativity? His bowlers were shagged out after two sessions on a warm day? F*ck knows how they managed to go all right in the UAE and Sri Lanka over the winter, then.
What are you talking about?

What's that, you sherbert? Are we on about Cap'n Negs? The Neganator? The man who, when the partnership was in its infancy, had one slip and one gully? Who, after a couple of boundaries just spread the field? You're right, it was NEVER a 130/6 pitch - it's a shit pitch - we can only hope it deteriorates or it could be a draw. Yet, not only did we take the foot of their throat, we picked them up, dusted them down and apologised. Where's Straussy from, again? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Middlesex. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 25-29 May, 2012
Figured you two would go ballastic ... you're both so fecking predictable when it comes to berating Strauss!
FFS - stop you're continuous whining about Strauss .... on and on and on and on ... never f**king satisfied despite all that he's achieved as a skipper since taking over! Re Sky ... check in to Hussain's (third man) spotting the field placements and changes ... open thine eyes rather than bleat.
So ... the Emirates last winter was all Strauss's fault ... and down in Sri Lanka too ... BeJezzus, Strauss is such a loser ... rabbit rabbit rabbit .... give it a break FFS ... WhoTF do you have right now to take over the reins?
The Chef ??? SAME MOULD I'm afraid ... so start the car with yer whining right now, cause you ain't gonna have much difference in style. It's called not losing a match ...
PS - sweet f**k all to do with Middlesex mate ... a. I've kinda ceased following them as avidly as before ... and b. Strauss seldom (bar a couple of games) if ever, plays for Middlesex no more!!
Get real ... tis match will be won by England just wait n see ... after which, nofaint praise for Strauss ..... well ... certainly not from you two!

Viv Richards & Richie Richardson once put on a triple century partnership against the hapless Aussies of the mid eighties.
Dunno about others. Did Jayasuriya & Jayawardene ever put on a really big partnership? Or Barrington & Barber? Did Tom Graveney ever bat with WG Grace?

Ahhh, so you have no real rebuttal, just a lot of blithering. I mean, what have you really said? Firstly you start off with 'check Nasser' - I didn't need to, I saw how defensive he went, how quickly. Then you start presuming I'm laying sole blame for the winter debacle on him, which is a silly thing to say. 'rabbit rabbit rabbit '? Seems to be what you're doing and also describing Strauss' batting until recently. THEN you tell me that Chef's the same, like it's a qualifying statement of non-negativity and just after say it's not about Middx - why mention Cook then? You're all over the shop, you gigantic sherbert.

Which should be every captain's mindset when the opposition is 130-6.

Cricinfo: "Very sedate start, West Indies cruising along with the unstoppable certainty of an ocean liner. England in need of an iceberg (and maybe a ice cream)."
And then Sammy went apeshit.
So another stinking hot 28C in Nottinghamshire?
